Crockett ties the knot
Tweekums22 June 2012
Warning: Spoilers
When Crockett is given to job of protecting singer Caitlin Davies, who is testifying against her corrupt manager, Tommy Lowe, he isn't happy to be given what he considers to be a babysitting job. When they meet he feels that his views of spoilt rock stars have been vindicated especially when he ends up driving her to her studio and taking her to dinner. What he doesn't realise is that Lowe is determined not to do time and if that means having Caitlin killed then so be it. A trio of assassins strike as Sonny and Caitlin are leaving dinner; Sonny shoots one and they escape by boat with the other two chasing. His boat stops after being hit and Sonny shoots this assassin too while the third flees. Stranded in the boat, Sonny and Caitlin start talking and eventually fall into each others arms. It isn't long before Sonny is introducing his son to Caitlin and by the end of the episode they are married! Lowe meanwhile is murdered by those who fear he could implicate them and it is uncertain whether they consider the matter closed or whether Caitlin is still in danger.

After the previous episode, which was a real stinker, this one is a marked improvement. The story itself isn't that deep but it does serve to bring Sonny and Caitlin together. Singer Sheena Easton did a decent job as Caitlin although I'm amazed no comment was made about her Scottish accent! I'm intrigued to see how marriage will affect Crockett's character; I just hope that later stories don't try to find ways to shoehorn Caitlin into his other cases. While there are a lot of scenes of Sonny and Caitlin getting to know each other there is also some decent action in the form of the shootout at the restaurant and a boat chase. Overall I was relieved that this was much better than the last episode but still didn't think this was classic Miami Vice.

Not one of the better episodes, but average.

Warning: Spoilers
Not one of the better episodes, but average. Like a Hurricane is when Miami Vice started to run out of ideas. In order to reinvigorate Miami Vice a new character is introduced. A love interest for Crockett. The back and forth chemistry of Crockett and the girl the agent has to protect works. The case with the music scum bags is kinda funny and not over serious. Not a memorable episode, but entertaining. Like a Hurricane is an attempt to keep the viewers engaged and push the high ratings momentum forward. 6 stars.

I've got you babe

Warning: Spoilers
I chuckled when Sonny dismissively critiqued Caitlin's attempts to cover I've Got You Babe. Caitlin (Sheena Easton) makes her first appearance in her story arc in Miami Vice, and by the end of this episode she and Sonny are married. Is this when Miami Vice jumped the shark?

The season 4 ball has officially been dropped.

Warning: Spoilers
Is it me or is this the episode the MV producers decided that recapturing the tired clichés of season's 2 & 3 were more important than making gutsy, unpredictable TV.

Despite the encouraging signs shown in the first 6 episodes of season 4, this drivel practically undoes all the good work. The contrived dislike between Crockett and Caitlin Davies (Sheena Easton) quickly turns to an even more contrived love. I'm sure the writers would love to cite The African Queen as inspiration, but this feels more like something that came out of daytime TV.

The only new ground this episode breaks is showing Lt. Castillo with a smile on his face and expression in his voice...although I'm not sure that's a good thing. Lastly, I almost fell on the floor laughing at the priceless cutaway at Crockett's wedding to the band...gotta love rockin' out on those synth guitars. I'm curious to know if they'll be able to recover from this crap.
