Stolen art

Warning: Spoilers
As this episode begins it looks like we will be in for some old school 'Miami Vice' as the team waits for a large shipment of drugs to arrive in the port but then somebody turns up and tells the people waiting for the ship that they can't use the dock. One of the men loads something into a pickup and Crockett goes to arrest him; after a shootout the man is dead and Crockett is surprised to find to find art in the truck. It turns out they have found two parts of a famous triptych; 'The Madonna and Spirits' that had been stolen in France some time ago. Soon they are joined by NYPD detective Jeffrey Whitehead who briefs them on the theft and helps prepare Tubbs for an undercover role as a corrupt arts professor out to make a lot of money. The get the missing part of the triptych they will have to get close to the Scianti family; people better known for drug dealing than art appreciation.

This was a fairly solid episode; the case was interesting, there was some action and a couple of twists… although the main one could be spotted a mile off! Art theft might not be a typical Miami Vice story line but it didn't seem unreasonable that they might investigate such a crime although it did seem a little unlikely that Tubbs could bluff his way as an art expert quite too well. The regular cast did a good job and Peter Dobson and Michael Chiklis were good as main bad guy Joey Scianti and Det. Whitehead… the latter also provided a good laugh as he ran through the Port of Miami terminal in a dress at the end! Overall I'd say that this wasn't a classic episode but it is still plenty of fun.

Okay!

Okay episode. There are worse episode! The Lost Madonna starts out strong. Shoot out with Vice finding stolen art! Sonny and Crockett go into deep cover to find the lost Madonna. There is an art experts, double crosses, and two Soprano's type bad guys. Mixed into a 70's heist style story. Watchable, but cheesy. The Lost Madonna is not on my top 5 list. Better than the average episode. 7 out of 10!
