****SPOILERS***It's when Laurie White Garcia's, Barbara Lord, oily as well as grease ball husband Tony, Cliff Connell, found out that her millionaire father Cammander J.P White, Noel Leslie, wrote him out of the family fortune he went bonkers and attacked Laurie in their one room walk up bedroom apartment on thew lower east side and almost strangled her to death in revenge. The by now completely crazed man went so far as planting a bomb on J.P boat set to go off at 5 PM sharp to do the old man in like he thought he did in his daughter Laurie. With Laurie surviving her husbands attack it's now up to the NYPD to not only prevent the bomb from going off but inform Tony that he's not wanted for murder and thus turn himself over to the police before he does something really wild and crazy. As well as tell the cops where he planted the bomb on the Cammander's boat.

Tony really now not caring what happens to him ends up on the lower east side walking aimlessly through the crowed streets until he spotted by the police and killed in a wild shoot out with them. The fact that Tony is dead makes things even more difficult in finding out where he planted the bomb that set to go off any moment now. It's up too Let. Muldoon, John McIntire, to track down the bomb on his own as well as as keep Cammander J.P White, who has a serious heart condition, from knowing the serious situation that he's in. Knowladge which can set off a fatal heart attack on his part and do the job that Tony's bomb was set to do to him: Kill him!In a race against time Let. Muldoon finally realizes where the bomb was planted and before it can go off throws it into Long Island Sound where it explodes without causing any damage.

It was Let. Muldoon's brave action that prevented the bomb from going off and killing all on board. But it was Cammander White telling his estranged daughter Laurie that he loves her that made the ending of this "Naked City" episode worth watching. It also made her forget what a heel of a husband she was married to who almost ended up murdering both her as well as her dad.

The show's a bomb

A mixed bag, as suspense ultimately gives way to over the top sentimentality in a rather limp tale written by Jesse Lasky Jr.

We're stuck with an irredeemable bad guy played by Cliff Parnell, who appeared in several movies directed by John Cassavetes. He's the greedy husband of lovely Barbara Lord (a blonde TV actress whose career never took off), and he's out to kill her father, a navy commodore, to get her inheritance. He ends up choking her nearly to death instead.

Our heroes have a race against the clock to find a bomb Cliff planted on the commodore's yacht, ending up with two well-done climax scenes, followed by a very soggy finish. The on-location footage in the harbor is the episode's best element.
