A lady vanishes
searchanddestroy-131 May 2016
Nothing much to say about this simple but effective story of a man looking for his girl whose apartment is empty when he comes to visit her, whilst she was very here just a few minutes earlier. This made me think of an Alfred Hitchcock early movie: A LADY VANISHES, or other movies such Jonathan Mostow's BREAKDOWN, Philip Leacock's DYING ROOM ONLY, Terence Fisher's SO LONG AT THE FAIR. The boy friend is also suspected of having kidnapped or killed his girl. You see, you deal here with the pure suspense with a more than predictable ending. Not bad for this little programmer made by John English. By the way, I did not know that Republic Pictures produced for the TV industry.
