Veteran trail boss Harold J. Stone faces an uncertain future. The doctors tell him
he's going blind and that will gradually happen over the next two years. He's a
tough proud man but when Gil Favor offers to give him a job with the herd at least it's a paycheck to keep the wolf away for a while.
