Dangerous Cargo
bkoganbing22 September 2018
In this Rawhide episode the Gil Favor trail drive encounters a wagon driven by Hugh Marlowe and Patricia Barry with Lane Bradford clearing the way of rocks to make the trail nice and smooth. When pressed these three say its vintage champagne that bruises easily and goes flat, reason for the caution and slow speed.

But later on when its discovered that the cargo is also nitroglycerin Eric Fleming orders the herd moved with him and Clint Eastwood staying behind to see that there's plenty of distance between the wagon and the cattle.

One never expects these things from the female. Barry who up to now plays the part of a prim and dutiful wife turns the tables on Fleming and Eastwood and the two are forced to do Bradford's work in clearing the road.

Given the nature of their plight this is one tension filled episode with Fleming"and Eastwood looking for their chance at a break. And Fleming plays quite a chicken game in the end.
