front of him in regard to heights.
The herd has to go up a steep mountain pass. And they have to do it quickly because a lightning storm threatens all around. Anyway Paul Brinegar falls off the chuck wagon driving up the pass and hangs on to some tree branches for dear life until Clint Eastwood rescues him.
That experience has left Brinegar with a case of hysterical blindness. And Brinegar being the cantankerous cuss he is has no desire to be a burden.
