Eric Fleming's 3000 head of cattle passed over some burned over prairie grass which lacks salt and consequently they don't drink as their thirst buds are not stimulated. They'll die if they don't get any salt to get the water.
A new drover, one armed Burt Douglas says that in a nearby town there's a salt mine owned by the town banker Everett Sloane. Douglas has a lot of history with Sloane and his son Dick Davalos and some really interesting history with Nancy Rennick who is now married to Davalos.
This is as far as I go. You have to see to believe what a tyrant Sloane is to believe it. Davalos turns in a very nice performance as a weak willed totally dominated son.
