Outlaws Hook Carter (John Doucette) and Mel (Henry Rowland) rob Parson Loomis of the mine payroll he was carrying. Mel shoots the parson in the back. Hook tells him, "you shouldn't have plugged a parson." Roy and Pat find the parson still alive and take him to the doctor in town. Meanwhile, Dale has to care for the three Loomis children as their Indian housekeeper has returned to her tribe for a ceremonial dance festival. In town, Roy has an extended fistfight with Mel and recovers Mel's share of the stolen payroll. The sheriff is out of town and Roy locks him up, but the wily Mel picks the lock and escapes. Hook has disguised himself as a parson friend of Parson Loomis and turns up at the Loomis house. But, his lack of bible knowledge soon reveals him to be an imposter. Mel arrives at the house and a showdown is imminent. The two older Loomis children, Johnny and Debra, are played by Brad Morrow and Helen Burnett. But the baby, Hezekiah, is completely uncredited for this episode.
