Episode 44

Episode 44 begins with Chester back home, amused by the fact that his wife would have an affair with Detective Donohue, who found Jessica instead of Chester.Billy is greeted by Lisa(Ruth Cox),a girl he used to have a crush on,now a member of a religious group called The Sunnies("The Church of the Golden Ray"),who convinces Billy to join her in the group because she loves him.Eunice visits Dutch in prison, hoping he will turn state's evidence in order to be paroled(the great Dick Miller cameos as the exasperated Guard).Sally confesses Ingrid's blackmail scheme to destroy the Campbells to a relieved Mary, who looks at the porno film that proves her husband's innocence(asking "weren't you cold? did you know the man in the mask?"),and Burt and Mary finally make up(this was the final appearance for Caroline McWilliams).Corinne's baby enjoys the family's attention(The Major can't believe it's a boy: "it's hard to tell without a uniform!"),but once the nursery is empty, toys levitate, chairs rock, drawers open and close, and the sound of sinister laughter is heard.

Chester is back in the fold.
Sleepin_Dragon31 December 2023
Danny and Jodie try their best to get Sally to explain exactly what happened that night with Burt to Mary, Eunice goes to visit Dutch in prison for the first time, and Chester is now back at the family home.

Another cracking episode, funny and moving in equal measure.

I've waited ages for Chester to return home, I was so keen to see how his return would affect everyone, his bath time scene was very funny, he's outraged to learn that Jessica was having an affair, kettle, pot, black.

Mary and Burt's meeting was a scream, what a line to start with, would you like some cheese? Good to see Sally doing the right thing, but will this mean that Mary and Burt can get back together.

The acting is superb.

8/10.
