A one of a kind episode...which is well worth seeing.

Although IMDB says that this episode of "Studio One" is 30 minutes in length, it's actually 60 like other episodes. I am glad, as if it had been 30, it would have felt rushed...and it works well at 60.

The show is a live teleplay about Mike (Warren Stevens). He's been in prison over seven years for an armed robbery and he's now back in town to start his life over again. But his mother has told everyone he's in the military and that's why he's been gone! His brother (Everett Sloane) has a very different reaction...instead of pretending it all never happened, his is acutely aware of his brother's deficiencies...and he hates him. This is a serious problem as BOTH now live with their mother AND Mike works for him...and Phil isn't happy about any of this. What's next?

While the show is called "Mark of Cain", it reminds me much more of another Biblical tale, "The Prodigal Son". This is because Phil was hard working...a good son...and now that his mother is gushing over Mike, he naturally feels resentful. Either way, it's a very good story...very well acted, well written and, especially, a most unusual tale....the sort of story you never hear about...how a man (or woman) tries to be re-integrated into society and the family pressures on them to succeed or fail.
