Education in the Old West was always a tricky subject. Some shows just naturally had a school, and all the children went unless for some reason they were needed out of school in some particular scene. Yet, in other shows we never hear tell there is a school. Then in Trackdown, we have the ol' there's a teacher but somebody doesn't want it kind of attitude. This isn't the only show that has chosen this route with the school.
As far as a teacher strapping on a gun, will he really get the respect with the children he needs after involving himself in a shootout? And I personally believe that he should have chosen his wife over that school. What kind of man was he to go into a gunfight knowing he was probably going to die when his wife was begging him to stay with her?
But this was a good episode. It kept me interested to the end.
