Steel's monster!!
elo-equipamentos10 August 2018
Taking a ride in the famous monster of lake Ness as Irwin Allen always likes, they sent Seaview to find out about a mistery murder of an american scientist, there they have to face another kind of monster a steel one, then Nelson and Crane must to check the facts to make sure to deliver all results of previous studies from the late scientist to another one, predicable but interesting case where has a support from Scotland Yard as well, curiously the lake Ness is unapproachable by a large submarine as Seaview, but to Irwin Allen it's a minor detail to get around!!

Top episode

That's one of the best episode of the TV show so far. The most perfect topic for this kind of TV series which is a mix up of mystery, submarine and science fiction series. This atmosphere strangely reminds me some of SHERLOCK HOLMES series one, remember, with Basil Rathbone, so British, in the country side, long talks in an inn, about curse at night ? So, you see, that's pretty strange for VOYAGE TO THE BOTTOM OF THE SEA...But it works pretty well although. Not so many special effects but who cares, only focus on the atmosphere... I am waiting now for the other surprises which this series reserves us.

I repeat, good episode.

One of the worst of season one.

Warning: Spoilers
"The Secret of the Loch" is a very, very poor episode from "Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea". It just doesn't make much sense and is a rare let-down from season one.

The episode is about some supposed monster in Loch Ness. This is problematic because the US has a secret project there and publicity could expose it. So Admiral Nelson goes on a mission there. Later, it involves bringing the Seaview into the loch (HOW would they get it there?? It is a lake after all.). But once they do that, they discover the 'monster' is actually an enemy sub and they've been led into a trap.

So, the episode doesn't make any sense...nuff said.

Six Out Of Ten Drama

The Loch Ness monster might be real? Nelson and Crane will find out.

The first half of this episode is as slow as a snail and not a lot happens. In fact you could walk into this episode half way into it and pick up on the story with no problems at all.

Also, it just feels like we are watching some other TV series, maybe a British series, and Basehart/Hedision have just sort have wandered in by mistake.

Thankfully, the second half improves with flying colours with very clever writing and Seaview dramas.

This is episode 30 in screening order but episode 32 in production order, so this was in fact the last B&W hour filmed.
