One day by a creek side young James Butler Hickok meets pretty Ely Pouget and
he falls instantly. She seems to reciprocate.
Then later on Josh Brolin finds out that the old man that Pouget is with in town is not her father but her husband. And later she has a sad tale of woe to tell about how she was purchased to pay off a loan to her father. A gallant Josh Brolin promises to be her Lancelot.
But when the husband is shot dead while Brolin is on the way to rescue Pouget like any knight errant he's accused of the crime and sentenced to hang.
It's his fellow Young Riders who find out the truth and rescue Brolin.
