It's time for Sarah to go back home.
TxMike26 September 2007
Warning: Spoilers
This episode is one of the first season on the 3-disk DVD set "Tales from Avonlea". Sarah was supposed to be 10, but young actress Sarah Polley looks more like 8. It is remarkable that a series would be built around such a young actress, but it works because she is so good and so believable.

The episode, set in the snowy winter, is built around Blair returning to Avonlea to get Sarah and bring her back to Montreal. The trial is over and he has been cleared. Without any notice to his relatives in Avonlea, Blair just shows up and plans to leave early the next day with Sarah. That certainly causes a commotion, from several different angles. Sarah has made herself a home there with her relatives and other friends, and is not anxious to leave. Aunt Hattie has gotten attached to Sarah, and sees her as a substitute for her departed sister Ruth. So the whole episode is about the friction and resolving it.

Most of the healing needs to come between Hettie and Blair, each as stubborn as the other. In one exchange Hettie tells Blair, "I had planned to never speak to you again." At one point, Sarah decides to hide out, with the help of her cousins, until Blair and Hettie came to some kind of civil agreement. Good episode.

Autistic Kid Reviews Road to Avonlea: First Season
Aleta_Nook18 November 2016
Me, being a person who hasn't watched this series since she was 12 and 15, (I used to love the series back when I was a little kid but once I got to a teenager, I didn't love it so much anymore, especially putting a saccharine series like this on repeat would be annoying).

This episode wraps of the first season of Sara's beginning adventures in Avonlea, where her father suddenly comes to take Sara home. This distresses Sara, since even though she had a hard time accepting being here in Avonlea in the first few episodes, she has adapted quite well to her family and has made many friends here.

Watching these characters grow was quite a joy and I loved the little Cecily character. But this has got to be by far, my least favorite episode of the series. Sure some other episodes weren't as good as the others such as "Malcom and the Baby" and "The Witch of Avonlea" but the predictable plot of moving didn't really interest me. Also, it was rushed.
