A funny and surreal episode
Rectangular_businessman18 February 2013
Warning: Spoilers
According to the Daria Wiki, this chapter(Along with the once infamous "Depth Takes a Holiday" and the musical episode) was considered by the fan-base as "Off-Canon Canon" (?) because of the "treatment of reality".

Personally, I didn't have any problem with this episode, and personally I consider it to be one of the funniest moments in the entire series. It wasn't supposed to be a "realistic" episode after all, considering that it was one of Daria's dreams (And no, this wasn't some kind of lame plot twist) In that way, all the exaggeration of the usual character traits (Particularly, from Daria's parents) makes sense and is very funny to watch.

Also, all the lighthearted parodies of detective shows and movies were hilarious and well made.

Very unconventional but enjoyable.
planktonrules8 March 2011
This is a very unconventional episode--yet despite this, it is still enjoyable. The show starts with Mr. DeMartino pointing out that ALL the football players except one got perfect scores on the quiz--meaning they all obviously cheated. And until the person who stole the test admits it, he threatens to fail EVERYONE on the quiz. Obviously he could not do this, but it inspired Daria to have a very weird dream--a dream in which Kevin was murdered because he must have been the one to steal the quiz. The fact that Kevin was dead didn't seem to bother anyone but for absolutely no reason, Daria was blamed for this. So, it's up to Daria and Jake to investigate and figure out who was responsible.

This episode was good because it was chock full of zingers and great lines. So it proved that even a goofy idea can work if the writing is up to snuff. Quite enjoyable and different.

Who killed Kevin? Sort of like Twin Peaks
safenoe1 October 2016
Warning: Spoilers
A quirky Daria episode, with deaths abounding, all in Daria's dream, with a reference to a one armed man (Fugitive!!). Sort of like Twin Peaks, and I expected cherry pie to be served. The Fashion Club also appear a la Charlie's Angels to work out who killed Kevin in front of his locker.

I wish MTV rebooted Daria, as I'd love to hear her opinions on hipsters, Bernie Sanders, free college tuition, globalism, Trump, smart phones, social media, LGBTI, The Kardashian family, Edward Snowden, Julian Assange, and 19 Kids and Counting. I'd also like Daria's thoughts on MTV no longer being the prime source for music videos.

A dream of murder
Tweekums10 January 2013
Warning: Spoilers
When the football dream does impossibly well on a history test Mr DeMartino declares that he will fail everybody if the person who stole the answer sheet doesn't come forward. After school Daria falls asleep while watching a detective show and dreams her own murder mystery! In her dream she discovers Kevin's body stuffed in her locker; he has been shot with an arrow, poisoned, strangled and battered... I'm guessing it wasn't suicide. She is the chief suspect so must find the real killer before Ms. Li can use her new electric chair. To help do this she hires Upchuck's Angels... AKA the Fashion Club. As is often the way in murder mysteries Daria rounds up the suspects to unmask the guilty party.

When the dream sequence started I prepared myself for a weaker episode as I'm not usually a fan of dream sequences; I soon found myself chuckling at the events as couldn't happen in a regular episode where well handled. The mystery was fun but not as funny as seeing Mr DeMartino interrogating Daria in Ms. Li's new interrogation room. Overall I'd say that this was a surprisingly funny episode; don't be put off by the fact that most of it is a dream.
