Warning: Spoilers
The Angels are never sidelined for long. Seems like every episode has Colonel White launching them at the first sign of trouble. But 'Seek and Destroy' turns that on its ear by placing the spotlight squarely on them. Indeed, Captains Blue and Scarlet (Spectrum's finest) are stuck for most of the episode, forced to take cover from hijacked aircraft while the Angels swoop in and save their bacon.

It speaks to the Angels' abilities when even Destiny, pinned down, yearns to be up there leading them in combat. This episode leans heavily on their role in the fight, stuffing the third act with one aerial shot after another. On the other hand, it's solid model work and the closest thing to a dogfight you could ask for with puppets. Good effects across the board, not just the flying sequences but also the exploding models.

You don't expect it (I didn't), but this turns out to be one of the more exciting episodes. Which helps immensely.

A memorable episode from my youth.

Warning: Spoilers
"Seek and Destroy" was always a memorable episode, thanks to the Angel aircraft being flown by The Mysterons. The spooky music effects no doubt helped cement the thing in my mind, plus how good the aircraft looked, with no paint.

Anyway, Destiny must've crashed a couple or three aircraft as the aircraft engine factory have three Angel planes ready for painting and delivery to Spectrum (they can't be upgrades as Colonel White says, prior to the air combat beginning that they are identical in every way, so this is going to come down to skill).

Destiny is in Paris "Doing a leetle shop-PING." (I doubt I could hate a puppet character more!) and as The Mysterons have threatened to kill one of the Spectrum Angels, Destiny being off-base is "the obvious target".

Colonel White sends Captains Scarlet and Blue to Paris to find her and "Bring her back to the comparitive safety of Cloudbase." Odd, when Colonel White was the target, he LEFT the "comparitive safety of Cloudbase" so as not to endanger other members of Spectrum or the base!

Meanwhile, Captain Black kills a truck driver and sets ablaze, the warehouse storing the three new Angel jets. The Mysterons reconstruct them and use them to attack Captains Scarlet and Blue who have collected Destiny and are on their way to the airport. Colonel White sends in three Angels to take out the Mysteron attackers, though Lieutenant Green reminds him of the Mysteron threat.... Destiny might've been the "obvious" target but she wasn't the specified victim.... ANY Angel will do...

Naturally, the Spectrum aircraft win the duel, with just one lost plane. We get a bit of weak humour with Captain Blue advising Captain Scarlet and Destiny that they'd better start out as it's "A long walk to Cloudbase!" and there's us fans thinking that they had SPV's stored in every barn!

Captain Scarlet has little to do in this episode, though he DOES sense danger, moments before the Mysteron attack. It's really the Angels and Mysteron aircraft that star in this episode, which made it very different to other episodes. For me, it could only have been better had Rhapsody replaced Destiny....she could've been off base and shopping in Chelsea!

A solid 8/10.
