SPOILERS
when i was a kid and saw this episode, i thought it kind of dragged at times but was still kind of cool, and the ending made it just OK for me.
but now that i see it as an ADULT, this episode made me cry at the end.
yeah sure, he tries to climb an impossible mountain. But it means so much more than that. He goes through battle after battle, his body goes through so much strain, and he pretty much gives up. Then... ugh... the scene that gets me going with the mountain monks. They remind him WHY he is struggling. What his GOALS are. Why its all worth it. They pretty much scold him. "HAVE YOU FORGOTTEN?!?!" And the flash backs...
If you are a struggling college student or post grad student, you might cry when you realize the symbolism at the end of the episode. "I WILL NEVER GIVE UP!"
kind of the same way Rudy would make me tear up.
