not bad

Warning: Spoilers
Not a bad show. The mayor race is a sign of any power struggle. Fear drive one character run for mayor. The mayor run on common sense. Fear wins in the end with the people for they live in fearful times. I like the gritty realism of the show. People as they are. Selfish, and stupid in bad situations, while other show heroism, and sacrifice. 7 out of 10. God help us in any of this this evil every happens. People become hateful. I hope there is hope and the higher ground is taken. Next season will be great. Great cast, acting and directing. Nice to see a show with a high budget for a change. New shows in Jannauary. I wonder how Hawkens will survive.

I disagree, this show is good
jedikiller3 December 2006
I've started watching this show on innertube, back to back (its been a long night) and i disagree, maybe the acting is not the best to everyones standards, maybe the story is slow, but i heard something said about this years latest round of shows and that is, People are craving simplicity. If you are not, and you want to be enthralled and mystified, then don't watch the show, but there are many people who would like to just sit back, relax and watch a show that is still attractive to them, but not hurting their brain to watch. If you ever wonder why this show is taking off, look at it simply as a wised up soap opera, if that helps you. Soap opera acting is not exactly the best, the story lines are so slow you can pick them up 3 months later if you stop watching them. They air daily, and some have lasted 30+ years. From the corporate view point if this simple formula works, great! I love this show, i don't know if it will make it past year 2, but as they say all good things must come to an end.

Wow!

I'm watching this show after watching Skeet Ulrich on Riverdale so it's interesting to see how much Jake Green has in common with FP Jones, inasmuch as they would both do whatever it takes to protect their families from anyone and anything that wants to hurt them. I haven't watched the end yet but from episode one to where I am now I've been hooked.

End of the line for me

Warning: Spoilers
Okay, I've given the show a fair chance, and it's blown it. The storyline is acting as if its core concept - the mysterious nuking of nearly the rest of the country - is nothing but a burden to the infinitely more important tale of the townspeople's mundane pasts. This is so typical. So TV. Draaaagging out the story, padding it up with nonsense that nobody besides dyed-in-the-wool soap opera fans could possibly wanna watch.

Will somebody tell the producers of this show that WE WATCH IT FOR THE FREAKING SCI-FI CONTENT and not to learn of yet another tedious family feud spiced up with a coupla lovers' spats?

When the hell are they gonna freakin' learn?? Jesus H. Christ!!

I'm outta here.

another disappointing episode
dromasca6 August 2007
Warning: Spoilers
This was another disappointing episode in a show that seems to lose speed for the third week in a row. What started as quite an original sci-fi, disaster and survival series slides more and more into routine family melodrama. Characters are predictable while conflict and dialogs get close to soap opera. There were a few ridiculous scenes in this episode, like the old lady in the store stealing the jewels from the daughter of riches while declaiming righteous prose, or the sophisticated DC tax clerk lady romantically engaging the farm boy. Come on! At least the script authors did not forget any electrocuted lady in the infirmary this time. There was almost nothing to remember for good reasons this time, and no real expectation for the episodes to come excepting maybe the feeling that it can't get really too much worse.
