There was something poignant about Series 2's Christmas episode, based on radio play The season of good will. This has some of the spirit of that episode, it deals with coping with grief and celebrating Christmas.
After the stay at home Christmas the previous year, the trio opt to visit all manner of friends for Christmas celebrations. I liked the story, and I wonder if the writer of The Vicar of Dibley Christmas lunch incident episode had seen this, the plot is somewhat similar.
So often it's Eleanor that steals the show, but I think Sarah gets to stand out here, Scales is always wonderful.
I miss those days when sitcoms had Christmas specials. 7/10
