A wonderful education for non Arabs
ianxmas20 January 2008
You don't have to be an Arab or a citizen of the United Arab Emirates to love Freej: it is the wonderful and eternal story of old folk, steeped in their traditional ways, trying to make head or tail of the modern world. Set in Dubai - which has to be the craziest, fastest-growing city in the world - Freej shows the escapades of four old Arab Ladies whose life is split between bickering, plotting, coming up with hare-brained schemes and eventually learning how to deal with the ultra-modern world in which they find themselves. You don't know whether to pity them, tut-tut at their often dishonest plots or just love their zaniness. If you are someone who knows little of the Arabian Gulf region or have been misled by what is often written about it, just sit back and watch the ladies of Freej and while you are laughing, pause to learn a little bit about their history and rich culture

A Show For The Whole Family..
littleangles1 October 2007
"Freej" or slang for "Neighborhood", the famous animated series that is watched by millions of families in the Middle East during the Holly Month of Ramadan while breaking their long day of fasting, is the brainchild of the brilliant Mohammed Saeed Harib. The show has acclaimed excellent raves from both the audience and media and the series became a household name after being released for the first time during Ramadan of 2006. It generates big laughs as it deals with social issues in the Emirates & the Middle East area in general through

humorous yet to the point situations. The stars of this phenomena are four sweet looking old Emarati ladies; the genuine UM Saeed, the oblivious Um Saloom, the up to date Um Alawi and the rebellious Um Khammas. The show focuses on their struggle finding their place while maintaining the old and genuine traditions in the heart of the booming city of Dubai.

The 2nd season started on the 13th of this month the first day of Ramadan and a few issues that were tackled in some of the episodes are being called "exaggerated and outrageous" by some people, even though that what was discussed on those episodes was a fact and happening in the reality. Never the less it didn't stop millions from tuning in every evening to watch Um Khammas going out ballistic as usual, while Um Alawi tries to lower the rising tension, meanwhile Um Saeed keeps complaining about her fragile knees and in the middle of it all Um Saloom is snoring!!

Warning: Spoilers
this cartoon is very fun and funny. it as four old women and they are

om Kamas: the wild one. om Saeed: the oldest one. om Alawi: the most educated one. om Saloom: the laziest one.

the cartoon is funny fun and cool. they have 15 episodes of fun. the greatest cartoon ever. Om Saloom always forgets about herself. and om Alawi is the Persian Arab, she has a laptop and mobile phone, owns stocks too. Om Saeed is the oldest and makes Arabian coffee for the group. and Om Kamas is the funniest one she plays traditional music. the cartoon is funny and has cool joke like a fish that drowned. this cartoon made one of the best entertainment and talked about, it is so popular in Dubai ask anyone they will know it.
