I'm speaking of HONOR the two-hour movie. I understand there is also a TV miniseries version, MARCIANO'S HONOR. Maybe the miniseries suffers less from confusion and lacunae than the movie does, but I find it hard to imagine that the movie left any very good parts out, and the movie doesn't have any good parts. Other than setting the story among the immigrant-generation and second-generation Moroccan immigrants to Israel, HONOR (the Hebrew could also be translated RESPECT) is nothing but a tired-out Godfather retread-- sometimes an embarrassingly slavish one. Zeev Revah, a fine actor, is wasted for the umpteenth time, but usually he is wasted in silly farces so this is at least a bit of a change. He and the other actors put in unexceptionable performances but the script gives them only the sketchiest stereotyped material to work with.
