Horrible....and I mean that in a good way!

This is a very, very short little film--less than three minutes. Because it's so short, I'm going to have a hard time writing this review, as IMDb requires a minimum of ten lines AND I don't want to reveal the sick and twisted ending.

A man calls home and is talking to his little girl. Through the course of the call, it becomes apparent Mommy is having an affair...then things get really, really weird! The acting and production values are just fine but the biggest stars of the film are the writing and direction. For such a small budget and simple film, it sure packs an interesting punch.

UPDATE--just a week or so after I saw and loved DADDY'S LITTLE HELPER, I stumbled upon Fait d'hiver--a film that was nominated for the Oscar for Best Live Action Short Film in 2003. This Belgian film is DADDY'S LITTLE HELPER in almost every single way--I do mean almost EXACTLY the same. Yet, oddly, two guys are listed as the writers of DADDY'S LITTLE HELPER on IMDb who are NOT the writers of Fair d'hiver!! What gives? Originally, I gave this film an 8, but since it is a copy (and a darn close one at that), I can't give it any better than a 4.

ANOTHER UPDATE--I just got a nice email from Daniel Wilson who helped make DADDY'S LITTLE HELPER. He was very nice and did not sound angry that I noted the similarities. He swears that the duplication was unintentional. It is indeed possible, though an amazing coincidence (though far stranger things occur all the time). See them both--they both are excellent films. As a result of this pleasant exchange, I'll restore the 8 as I was probably a bit too hasty in assuming the worst. If you see them both, however, you can probably easily see how I could naturally make this assumption. The similarity is eerie.
