Like some of my penulti-mates, I enjoy musical interludes. This episode feels like "Ocean's Eleven" went "full-on 'Glee'". The gang has to pull off a heist in a fortress-like hotel, rigged with layers of spells and some conventional security measures. But the delight is in the details, which result in our heistmeisters engaging in terpsichorean antics. The alternative is to get Fogged.
I particularly liked the "Cruel to be Kind" number. But anything with Jade Tailor is a treat. And the librarian's (Mageina Tovah) charming enthusiasm elevated every number.
A non-musical highlight was when three of the gang, to avoid detection, jumped into a corner and hilariously began making out.
For others who like musical numbers, I recommend "Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist" and "Katy Keene" (try episode 7).
If I could indulge my own 80s playlist for an episode of "The Magicians", I would include "White Wedding", "Love Shack", and, natch, "Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic."
