I found this initial episode interesting and well done.
Sometimes the PBS Passport shows available through Walter Presents are not in the actual order they were first shown in, so occasionally it's like coming in after a show has been on for a while. I got that feeling a bit here and was confused about the Inspector's visions; it appears (no pun) they are something he is used to seeing and they are not in his mind.
I thought the setting was well visualized and not a place usually seen in these mystery shows. How the fascist government interacts with local police will probably be developed further.
Most of the actors were well cast and it was good to see the Inspector show professional respect to his sergeant.
Even the opera parts were fine (a genre I'm not that big a fan of). Look forward to following the rest of the episodes and seeing how Ricciardi's personal life evolves.
