Worst swedish dialogue I have ever heard
vunnybunny1 August 2020
As a Swedish person I have never in my life heard such a bad attempt at the swedish language as I witnessed under the dialogue between the handler and the sweds. When the handler started speaking I was wondering if something had happened to her between scenes or if she was getting a stroke because I couldn't identify a word she was saying. Then i saw the sweds and thought "oh no I hope this is not what I think it is" and it was sadly was. Don't get me wrong I love the series but I feel a little bit hurt as a swed myself that the writers and directors didn't try harder to actually get the language right. And when they throw in a German word for someone who is supposed to imitate a swedish person.. Just no. "Weiner" is a German word get it right say "korv" for god's sake.

Since we're here....

I couldn't agree more with the other reviews. The attempt at Swedish was very very bad. BUT I would also like to direct your attention to their "attempt" at Greek. IT WAS ATROCIOUS. Honestly , at this point, with the American movies/series ... can they just stop? I mean if they do not want to hire a linguist or a native to the language person to advice them on at least how to make it not sound like gibberish ,then they can just stop. They can just use English. After all as a European, I can assure you my American friends , we are far better at speaking English than you are. Love, A frustrated cinephile from the Old Country

Laughably bad, but funny
ninja-1114 August 2020
Im gonna keep it short as my countrymen already sawed this episodes Swedish in two - but it has to be said that the only actually understandable Swedish was said by the knife-swede, who made a fair approximation of a finnish person speaking Swedish. And thats pretty cool.

Sidenote: using a Sauna is actually more of a Finnish thing. Just sweding.

Another enjoyable episode
epiczico2 August 2020
It is nice to see what Allison had done after being transported and they finally talk with Reginald Hargreeves and why he adopted them, sad to see what they did to Elliot, the end was also a good set up for Vanya and Sissy's relationships with her husband spying on her.

Needed more effort

Warning: Spoilers
On the one hand, I appreciate the nod to "the Swedes", in having Adele's "Hello" in the Swedish version (the Swedish lyrics fit wonderfully with that melody; not always the case with different language versions). And the sauna scene would have been cute enough in itself, without them trying and failing miserably to speak Swedish. As amply noted by my fellow reviewers here, that was a catastrophic let-down. The moral of the story: if you're going to take a big swing, you have do all the work necessary to hit it out of the park. Half-assing it ruins everything. Now you just seem like the kind of clueless Americans we see being interviewed by Jimmy Kimmel's cousin Sal on the street. Do we really need to perpetuate that stereotype any more?

A decent episode with a few weak scenes
maxglen16 August 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This episode has plenty of great moments, particularly the "supper" mentioned in the title. Unfortunately we also get some slightly cringe worthy scenes, notably those with The Handler and the Swede's. I don't speak Swedish myself but I know how it sounds and the dialogue spoken in this sounds more like a strange mixture of German and Russian, it's quite odd. There's also a lot less action in this episode which isn't always a bad thing but considering this episode was already one of the weaker ones, it doesn't exactly help it here. Other than those complaints, the acting is for the most part great, as is the soundtrack and just about everything else. Light 8 out of 10

So recognisable! They do that so often in movies with Dutch too....use German words. I think it is all Greek to Americans😜🤣

Swedish?
saaarah_896 January 2021
I love this show, but the Sauna / Swedish scene? Did the creators of this show even try to find a Swedish person to help them with this? I'm Swedish and I wouldn't have been able to understand the dialogue without subtitles. And schvits? Wiener? Those are German words. Sauna is mostly used by the Finnish so that is only semi-right, since I guess they added that as a prejudice about Swedes. Ridiculous...

Swedes going off
genxmexrobin17 October 2020
Swedes are going off on the bad approximation of their language and culture. Of course us Americans would never know the difference. But since Netflix is an international product, they shouldn't allow such laziness. It's kind of disrespectful. That said, I've mostly enjoyed this season. More than the Boys really. The music has been a huge plus.

Funny but not so swedish
alexander-9217915 August 2020
Warning: Spoilers
The episode is fine. In fact most of the scenes are quite good. The light supper is funny and gives the character of Diego some additional depth, something he has been lacking for a long time. The worst part though is the appalingly bad swedish spoken by "the swedes" and especially by the handler in the sauna scene. The handler speaks something that is barely detectable as the swedish language to me, a native swedish speaker. She isn't supposed to be a native speaker, though I wish they had given her a better speech coach. But how Hollywood can have missed that there are actual swedes in Los Angeles who can more than well do the job of playing swedish characters, is beyond me. They never fail to get anything supposedly swedish completely wrong and it's beginning to feel like a deliberate insult when the year is 2020 and they've been doing it for as long as I can remember. The best I can say about it is: At least they weren't speaking frickin' german this time.

@Swedish Guys
oruboros7 August 2020
As remarked by others here it seems there is actually no Swedish being spoken in the sauna scene. But there are also no German words being used since "Weiner" -whatever else it might be - is not a German word.

kind of funny

This episode was probably the most humorous so far, the sibling dinner scene had a few really good laughs. As far as storyline goes, it should be no surprise, absolutely no development.

All the stupid in one episode
allan-1493115 August 2020
This is beyond a doubt the worst episode in the already lackluster season 2. Nothing makes sense, nothing is even attempted to make sense in universe. Nothing is built up and nothing and one one has evolved since season 1.

Very Intense and Ugly
Hitchcoc24 September 2023
Fifteen reviewers and about all any of them want to talk about is the Swedish accents and the use of a sauna. I have news for you. Nobody cares. So sit there, ignore the plot, and be smug. You could do this for ninety-nine percent of the non-English speaking characters, in every movie that has ever been made in America. It's about the story. The fact that the guys are Swedish has no significance other than the Handler, in her random cruelty, chose these guys to be her agents against the Umbrella Academy. They could have been Taiwanese, for God's sake. This is a really good episode because Number Five is faced with a difficult choice. After meeting his old man, he knows that a lot of weight falls on his shoulders. But, of course, the Handler cannot be trusted. Great villain, by the way in her flippant capricious way. Lila is going to come into play more as Diego becomes threatened. She's never been in love before. The scene where the poor conspiracy guy is attacked and tortured by those guys because his friends killed their brother is really hard to watch. And so we move into the next chapter. Oh, I have a suggestion. If they eat a cup of soup that was manufacture a year after the show. Make sure you make a federal case out of it.

This show and why people liked it, should be matter of study in universities.
jere_zabala21 December 2020
How the dumbest and most boring show in history got an 8/10??????? THAT'S MATTER OF STUDY. It really has million of failures, and they could be dissembled if the show had a great rythm, or maybe good and charismatic characters, or maybe good music, or action, or anything, BUT IT DOESN'T HAVE ANY OF THIS!! it doesn't even have a soundtrack, they steal all the songs!!!!!!! and the worst of all, THE SONGS NEVER FIT WITH THE SCENES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! god!!!!
