David Ramsey coming through!!
scarlettyforest2 July 2021
Gotta be the best instalment so far. I don't know if it was in the writing or more from directorial tips/smoothing over, but the acting in this ep was way better than the last couple of eps, as was the dialogue. From a plot perspective too, this was fun. Excited that they're expanding the number of Superman characters in this show.

What a good villain! But...
demigodshmurda27 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This episode was just... It was everything! Bravo and congratulations to the writers on this masterpiece!

Edge's plan is accelerating, and I'm (somehow) still intrigued on where the story is going and what his plan even is. It has something to do with "resurrection", and I've had this thought that he's trying to resurrect people from krypton, but can't do it fully, so he has to hijack the bodies of other people to do it? How that all works, I have no idea, but I'm sure we're gonna find out in the coming weeks. Keep this plotline going.

The writers also somehow made super hearing both super tense and incredibly cool at the same time! Even better that they (tried to...) explain how it works. Lead to some realistic drama in episode between the brothers, and during the argument John even takes advantage of Jordan's developing super hearing to cause him pain. Low blow, man. In the end though, they teamed up to save their dad's life. What an epic shot! Bravo to these two this week!

Then we get to the big reveal of the episode... John Henry Irons.

I won't lie. I'm a little disappointed. I wanted so bad for Wole Parks to be playing a new version of Lex. I even nicknamed him "Xander Luthor" since "Lex" and "Xander" are both short for "Alexander", so maybe this new Lex could go by "Xander" to differentiate him from other versions of Lex in the past. They even built up his relationship with Lois, Samuel Lane, even his daughter as we saw in this episode. I was so on board with him being "Xander Luthor" that the reveal of his identity just kinda pumped the breaks on all of that. This show could've done so much with the idea of a sympathetic version of Lex, but decided not to. And that does make me feel a little cheated. Not as cheated as the Black Lightning finale, mind you (imdb keeps denying me reviews of the finale), but I do feel a little cheated. And believe it or not, him not being Lex does impact his story a bit. Not the fact that we can sympathize with him, nor does it devalue his backstory, but it does change him from being a cool new version of Lex to being... Well, just some guy. Still a good villain, but he's suddenly not as cool as he could've been.

Also, Clark almost goes for the kill against Not Lex, but Lois is able to bring him back to reality. I like the idea of exploring the dark side of Superman, probably one of the many reasons I like the Injustice story so much. Do more of this, please!

This show continues to impress me every episode, and I'm loving every minute of it, but that Not Lex reveal is gonna loom over the show from now on. Every time I see him on screen, I'm just gonna think of what could've been. Does that make me petty? A little bit, yes. But come on, nobody's perfect!

9 / 10

Also, DC is making a black Superman movie, right? So how cool would it have been if Not Lex *was* Lex, and The CW made Lex black before DC could make Cal-El black? Just saying! So many missed opportunities here.

Like David Ramsey said when he was interviewed over directing this ep: This show is the pinnacle where all current Arrowverse shows should get to
ldamena26 May 2021
Wow! I can't praise enough how good this show is! What a powerful hour of television it delivered tonight. A+ on Captain Luthor's backstory. Some of the darkness had me with my mouth open xD. I appreciate how human Clark is here. This is the first show that has really delved into his dark side, only Lois can bring him back. Slightly different take on Superman but still him. That's what makes this show so impressive, coupled with David Ramsey's masterful directing, made this one of the best Arrowverse episodes in a long time.

DC Perfection

Perfect Episode of this show. The Stranger's origin came to life in epic fashion. Great story that was plausible, but not predictable. I won't spoil in this review, but I'm as shocked by who the Stranger is as I am by the fact I didn't figure it out. Wow...just, Wow.

Warning: Spoilers
This show just keeps getting better with each episode! David Ramsey did a fantastic job directing.

And we have Steel! So many things are starting to come together so well. Hopefully he can get past his hate of Superman and join forces to fight Edge.

Man of Steel
Prismark1030 January 2022
There are two main big bads on Superman & Lois so far.

Man of Steel focuses on Captain Luthor who is really John Henry Irons. In his world he was married to Lois Lane and they had a daughter Nat.

Superman and his evil army destroyed his Earth and that is why Irons as come to this planet to destroy Superman before he too becomes evil.

Morgan Edge might be the one who supplies the army with his experiments.

In Irons lies a good man who might even team up with Clark Kent. That leaves Edge is the man to stop.

As for Jordan and Jonathan. They both handily come crashing in to save their father. Maybe Jordan could be getting grips with his super hearing.

Some of the bickering between Jordan and Jonathan was lame. So it was good to see them team up.

Interesting episode. We learn Luthors back story (forgot his real name) which was interesting and great. The cgi holds up. Good acting and good storyline. Overall 9.3/10. Second best episode behind last weeks.

Origin of the armor - wtf
jan-hranac9 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The show was great so far until we saw how the armor was created. Two people without specialized education creating an armor capable of withstanding Superman from ordinary garage materials? Smoke another one, bro.

Man Of Steel
THEARROWFLASH28 May 2021
Well we finally got one of the Greatest Episode Titles of all time. And along with it, one absolutely beautiful piece of art, that is the episode, Man Of Steel, directed by none other than DAVID PAUL RAMSEY.

I'm not going to spoil anything but let me just say the reveal in this episode was ABSOLUTELY PHENOMENAL AND BRILLIANTLY DONE! Easily one of the best plot twists in a TV Show in the past decade! And the acting and writing were, again, absolutely perfect. What I really want to highlight is this episode's direction. DAVID PAUL RAMSEY, aka John Diggle, absolutely nailed it. Every frame was like a painting and every scene was like a masterpiece.

There's really not much to say here without giving spoilers but let me just say that an absolutely PERFECT episode like this, with the PERFECT Superman & Lois, DESERVES it's title: Man Of Steel.

Superman and Lois reaches new heights, brilliant direction and drama
Holt34427 May 2021
Seeing Arrowverse veteran David Ramsey in the director chair was a blessing, he got an eye for this and the direction he gave was perfect. The episode titled "Man of Steel" is well shot and brilliantly edited. It starts off directly where last week's episode left off, Jordan's superhearing started and his aggression led to his brother breaking his arm. This episode focuses on the Kent family, anti-villain Captain Luthor and the villain Morgan Edge. The story progresses nicely and we even get to see more of Captain Luthor's backstory which is needed as we get the full picture of who he was before the Supermen came.

I really liked the way they decided to shoot and portray how Jordan's powers are getting developed, his way of reacting is realistic. The acting throughout the episode was great, same with the character interactions. My favorite scenes has to be with Superman and Captain Luthor. This is a spoiler free review so I won't go into any details but the episode is truly amazing from start to finish and keeps a similar pacing which gives focus on all three perspectives (Kent family, Edge and Luthor) the dialogue isn't drawn out like some of the Arrowverse shows can be. It's a perfect Superman and Lois episode.

The Man of Steel.
wetmars29 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I like how the title is Man of Steel, haha. Clark brings Jordan to the Fortress of Solitude. Nice slow-mo there. Awesome. It's only up to Clark to train Jordan on his super-hearing. The headphone is a good advantage. Edge and his secretary discuss delivering the X-Kryptonite out of the mines. This training is a lot harder than I even expected. Lois comes to visit Marcus. During the meeting, Lois call quits. Oh wow, Marcus had a daughter. I feel bad for the traumatized dude seeing destruction around him. Clark visits Marcus' RV. What an unexpecting turn for him. Aye, Chrissy's back. I missed her. Marcus realizes that Clark was in his RV, yikes. Since it's post-crisis, Clark and Lois expect that Marcus is Lex Luthor from another Universe. Clark senses that Lex is going to gun down a truck containing cargo of X-Kryptonite shipping to Edge's Corp. He orders the men to get out of the truck. Handcuffing them and telling them to not move. I am liking more of this Lex. He stole the cargo that easily using cool-azz gadgets. Huh, Edge is going to use X-Kryptonite for his own "army", I wonder where is this leading to. Hey, Jordan is learning on his super-hearing! Focusing on who you love is a great strategy. Back to the flashbacks, Lex and his daughter watch as their mom/wife died on Live TV. Damn, I am loving the flashbacks. Clever Lois stole the X-Kryptonite from Lex, hah. An argument goes on that Jordan heard Jonathan talking to Sarah, yikes. Superman shows up at Lex's base. I love how Lex isn't afraid of Superman. He's incredible. Superman attempts to fight with Lex but, Lex turns on the red kryptonite conditioning on Superman reverting to his normal conditions would be like on Krypton. (( At least, I watched Superman: Red Son, where I know what that's meant for. I would say that the film is underrated but unrelated to this review. )) Anyway. I was not expecting Lex to use a hammer to beat up Superman. God damn. How many gadgets does he have now? Jordan hears his dad getting beat up by Lex. The two brothers go outside, Jothanhan drives Lois' car to hit Lex. Nice! Lex is going to probably realize why is there even two boys helping Superman? Superman attempts to heat-ray Lex to death but, Lois stops him. That gave me some Justice League vibes. Superman arrives at the Military Site to check up on Lex since he is imprisoned. The X-Kryptonite shows up to Edge's Corp. Bam, ending.

Thoughts? It is a well-done episode, incredible music. Nice following dialogue ever when it comes to Lois and Clark's discussion near the end of the episode. Great character development for the two brothers. Jordan apologized to him. I do love the shots of Superman in red lighting. The flashbacks are one of the best parts. It's nice knowing more of Lex and why he's targeting Superman for revenge. I like the dynamic between Lex and his daughter.

10/10.
