There is almost never an unfunny episode of American Dad, but sometimes the show is just too weird for its own good. This was one of those times. Not bad, just not the quality we expect.

Very very weird episode. Francine not wanting to stop breast feeding Steve was a completely random plot with not many funny moments. Roger making a documentary had some funny moments but it did not last long.

A New Classic for American Dad

Very different from the "old" American Dad, but out of the newer seasons they are really doing a good job dialing in a nice balance between the weird and the classic AD we've grown to love.

It was horrible the thing Francine was doing.

Warning: Spoilers
I Cannot believe how Francine was acting trying to breast feed Steve. What made the episode worse was the fact that Francine lied to Steve that he believed he needed breast milk by drugging his sunny D. He believes he needs the milk so much he ends up embarrassing himself and making him laughed at by the school and got kicked out. Then Francine tried to make it look normal but when she saw the tape she realized she had to get Steve off it. She did that by poisoning his milk. The sub plot was subpar but this ruined the episode.

Why?

Warning: Spoilers
The A plot was weak and downright disgusting. Francine's motivation doesn't make any sense. She still breastfeeds Steve because she "didn't know when to stop", but she is willing to drug him and lie to him to keep doing it? What? Of course a weak plot can be excused in a show like this if the comedy is there, but this episode had almost nothing to offer beyond gross-out humor.

The B plot was virtually nonexistent, barely any more substantive than the time everyone except Stan spent an entire episode slow-mo running across the living room. Stan and Jeff becoming disfigured but developing a friendship could have been a cool story if it was fleshed out, and it definitely would have been a better A plot for this episode. Instead it took a back seat and never reached a conclusion.

The only good parts of this episode were Principal Lewis's brief appearances. That dude never misses.
