Trust
bobcobb30128 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
As far as big battles and big penultimate episodes go it was not the worst one we have seen from The Walking Dead, but it was not one we will really remember either. This setting and story is just so bland at this point. The Commonwealth is not presenting itself as a truly compelling place for the characters to be, nor is it presenting itself as one where we'll see something shocking.

I just can't believe that this is the final setting we are going to get from The Walking Dead and that the journey of all of these characters is going to wrap up with them dealing with issues inside the Commonwealth.

Dirty face of Commonwealth!

This episode shows us how Lance Hornsby goes too far for his requests. Mercer's scenes was great too. Mid Final Season is going to be awesome. I think we lost one of our favorite character.

Will the tension pay off?
fountasalexander27 March 2022
Hopefully the mid-season finale is fantastic because so far 11B has been all the same besides 11x9 and this episode.

Lance and Maggie tension is always interesting, however they always slip in side-plots that are boring and unimportant.

Let's hope for a great mid-season...

It's fine, I guess, but I've noticed ever started airing again in February I have started to care less and less about the characters. They haven't changed at all for at least two seasons, so all these character driven episodes aren't as interesting- because we know everything the character is going to do.

Someone's dying in 16! Warning: Spoilers
15 was an excellent tension building episode. We truly have no idea what is happening since it's the final season. My money is on either Aaron or Lea, maybe both dying next week.

What would be a pretty good episode if it the core plot wasn't moving so slow.
frankiesilver-9183627 July 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I wasn't too thrilled about this episode. For a pre-finale episode, there is too much and too little going on at the same time. Some of the side plots seem unnecessary while the overarching story is going at a snail's pace.

An example of this is how Ezekiel's side plot felt pointless, although him accepting he doesn't have a future with Carol was super sad.

The pacing right now actually makes me understand the complaints that the cast is bloated.

Regardless, Mercer stole this episode and I'm happy he's with Princess even though it happened off-screen. But just like with Mercer's story, I feel like the main plot should've escalated by now.

This episode just feels like pointless dragging out. Lance's snooping seemed unnecessarily tense and while Daryl was a total bad***, his threatening of Lance went oddly nowhere. While I think the story is moving too slow, these scenes on their own are admittedly pretty good.

I am happy that we are finally forming an uprising, but it was just one little scene when I would already have expected riots by now.

Finally, Leah working with Lance was super predictable. I'm over Leah - she should've died in 11x09 - so not looking forward to more of her drama in the finale.

Episode was so succesfull and good. Musics are good but a bit unnecesary. Writers improved thrm writing in this season. Lance is most important character in show for now. He is amazing character and it's exciting watch him. Mercer is a good guy and he started resist the Commonwealth with this episode. I'm glad we are seeing Leah again cuz she has a so potantial for a villain and she is badass for sure.9.1/10.

Slow Episode but Still Entertaining
panagiotis199322 November 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Mercer seems to be an interesting and complex character. Now he has a relationship with Princess. Everyone seems to get a girlfriend lately. Im really happy to see Ezekiel feeling better after the surgery. Aaron destroying the walker's head with his metal arm and Gabriel cutting the walker's head in half with his machete was super cool. Love how they changed Princess from extremely annoying to a down to earth character. Watching Mercer struggling with his conscience and being vulnerable was very interesting. Lance trying to get information from Hershel was so disgusting, he is so slimy. It seems like Lance is now the real villain of the show, I kinda like it. Wait Daryl just threatened to kill Lance and it's all fine like nothing happened? That's so weird. Love that Max is willing to help Eugene uncover the truth. Leah working with Lance? Didn't see that coming, I expect something big in the next episode! My rating is 7/10.

Well Done
tristan_1927 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Every scene with Lance and Maggie is filled with suspense and tension. Hershel, once again, has a great scene in the episode. The use of music is chilling and the storyline progresses naturally.

Daryl is in the middle of it and tries to keep things from escalating. Lance's demeanor is psychologically challenging. Lauren Cohan's acting is on point and you feel everything. I totally get Elijah snapping at Lance.

Nobody really trusts each other in these scenes, as opposed to the Commonwealth's side of things, where you see Mercer opening up more after a talk with Max.

Ezekiel has a great line in this one. Do you try to protect yourself or the others ? Or both ?

The ending of the episode is brilliant with Lance offering a job to Leah. You know the animosity has been building, and he'll send her after Maggie, who is also Leah's enemy. It just works like a glove.

Maybe Mercer Should Be the Governor of Commonwealth
claudio_carvalho22 January 2024
Hornsby questions Aaron and Gabriel about what happened to Carlson and his group, and why they have survived. Then he decides to look for the killers at Hilltop. When he arrives, he orders Maggie to open the gates, but she only obeys when Daryl asks her. Hornsby's trooper searches Hilltop and Hornsby snoops around, and Maggie tells him to leave Hilltop by the sundown. Meanwhile, Eugene, Connie, Kelly and Rosita are planning to overthrow Pamela Milton from the power, and Eugene involves Max in his coup-d'etat. Ezekiel asks Tomi to help him in an appendicectomy, and Tomi finds a clinic for poor people masked of veterinary services. Hornsby stumbles with Leah and offers he a job.

"Trust" is an episode of "The Walking Dead" with uninteresting subplots. The annoying Eugene is now plotting a coup-d'etat against Pamela Milton. The woman is flawed but organized a society in a world of chaos. Her scum son Sebastian is so far the real problem and he should be pressing to warn his behavior to the population. Mercer seems to be a honest man and probably should be the governor of Commonwealth, but probably he does not have politician skills. Hornsby is another scum, but Mercer could easily deal with him is Pamela supports him. The subplot of Ezekiel is pointless and only a filler of the running time. Mercer and Princess together is interesting. The confrontation of Maggie and Hornsby is the best part of the show. My vote is seven.

Tense and Romantic
fqmqgsn27 March 2022
The soap opera elements of the show were blended with tension between Lance and our heros. This time around I liked the interactions we were getting with characters we haven't seen interacting since season 9. It almost became a bit of a snooze like I was watching a Grey's Anatomy episode but there was a line said by Carol that really lit me up.

Also love the light blue hue. Very nice. Can't wait for 11x16.

"Trust" reminds that in a world overrun by the dead, the living must navigate the perilous terrain of trust with care, lest they become their own worst enemies
fernandoschiavi5 April 2024
Lance questions Gabriel and Aaron, then leads a group of Commonwealth troopers to Hilltop to question Maggie. Lance intensely questions Hershel about Maggie's potential involvement, leading to a tense confrontation as Elijah and Maggie threaten Lance. After leaving Hilltop, Lance comes across Leah, who he recruits for a job. Meanwhile, Mercer and Princess have developed a sexual relationship, as Mercer struggles with the decision to kill his own men. Rosita tells Eugene about what happened with Sebastian and he calls in Connie and Kelly to report on the matter; they realize that April was one of the names on the list that Connie received. Eugene convinces Max to continue to help him on the inside, and they kiss for the first time. Inspired by Carol and his new lease on life, Ezekiel opens a secret clinic for those still far down the list, recruiting Tomi to help him with surgery.

"Trust" unfolds as a pivotal episode in the eleventh season of "The Walking Dead," probing the delicate nature of trust in a post-apocalyptic world where allegiances are as fragile as the safety they purport to offer. This episode skillfully navigates the intricate web of relationships and alliances formed among the survivors, highlighting how trust is both a necessary bond for survival and a potential source of betrayal. By focusing on the dynamics between characters who find themselves at a crossroads, "Trust" examines the consequences of faith placed wrongly and the redemptive power of trust earned against all odds.

The episode is structured around several key interactions that test the boundaries of existing relationships. Through these encounters, viewers are offered a deep dive into the psyche of characters who grapple with the weight of past decisions, the fear of vulnerability, and the hope for a future that seems increasingly uncertain. Particularly notable is the nuanced portrayal of characters who have historically been at odds, now finding themselves in situations where they must either choose to rebuild their fragile trust or succumb to the divisions that threaten their collective survival. The tension builds steadily, culminating in a series of confrontations that are as emotionally charged as they are revealing of character.

Visually, "Trust" employs a stark, almost claustrophobic aesthetic that mirrors the internal conflicts of the characters. The use of tight framing and close-ups intensifies the sense of intimacy and tension, drawing the viewer closer into the emotional landscape of the episode. Moreover, the episode's pacing is deliberate, allowing moments of silence and reflection to punctuate the narrative, giving weight to the characters' dilemmas and decisions. This careful construction enhances the thematic exploration of trust, illustrating its fragility and the lengths to which individuals will go to protect it, rebuild it, or exploit it.

In conclusion, "Trust" stands out as a compelling examination of the human condition under duress, weaving a narrative that is as much about the internal struggles of its characters as it is about their external circumstances. The episode challenges the viewer to consider the price of trust in a world where betrayal is often a means of survival. Through its thoughtful character development, gripping narrative, and expressive visual style, "Trust" adds a rich layer to "The Walking Dead's" exploration of the themes of loyalty, betrayal, and the enduring quest for humanity in the midst of chaos. It serves as a poignant reminder that in a world overrun by the dead, the living must navigate the perilous terrain of trust with care, lest they become their own worst enemies.

Why am I doing this to myself.
adamhamilton19805 November 2022
I've actually created an account so I can write this review.

The old cap filler episode is back people!! This was slow, meaningless expisode. I don't care about the characters, the little side stories feel pointless and I couldn't wait for this episode to be over. The doctor taking out the someones appendix? Who gives a hoot? I want drama, not Grey's Anatomy. I want survival, humanity coping with the apocalypse not this drivel.

I'm only watching it because I've invested so much time in this.

We used enjoy the walking dead. Not anymore. It's a lifeless corpse, lost of any direction, meandering through the seasons.

Unimportant Plots
wrka-195-29992827 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The beginning was fantastic, it continued the story of the previous episode... but I think that the big problem with The Walking Dead in its final season is the large number of characters, let's be honest, it's impossible to sustain the line of the comic in a tv show, and this happened in this episode. Nothing really happened at all.

The plots of Ezequiel/Carol, Connie/Kelly, Eugene/Max and Princess/Mercer are totally insubstantial compared to the main arc; Lance/Leah vs. Maggie's group, this one is the important one.

I would have liked to see Lance and Carol going to the Hilltop, facing Maggie, it would have been a really awkward situation, Carol's character has great potential just like Negan who unfortunately didn't appear in this episode.

I wonder if this will continue like this, thinking that there are only 9 episodes left until the end, the writers will dedicate themselves to making more plots and not developing the existing stories in a common path, and the problem lies in this; this is the final season, the plots are supposed to be closed and the questions this season and previous seasons answered. This season feels like it's not the end of The Walking Dead, it seems that we won't have a definitive closure after all.

Lance is one of the best characters on the show.
cooperrobert-1009127 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Largely a set up for the second mid-season finale. Josh Hamilton was the highlight. Lance's scenes with Maggie are riddled with tension and suspense. It's in this episode where we finally catch up on the Daryl and Maggie scene from 11x9, nut it feels like a slight misdirect. Classic TWD.

Also F-Bomb. The other storylines with Ezekiel, Mercer and Stephanie, while good just weren't as captivating as the main one. That said, it seemed to set up the finale pretty well. Let's hope it delivers the goods.

Anything Carol-Related is Much Needed
opreston-28 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Please keep up with the Carol content. I'm eating that s*** up. It's my favorite parts. From her simply walking Rick and Shane's kids to SCHOOL, to the way she's weaseling her way into the chain of command and can now control the Commonwealth army is making me fall in love with her character all over again.

For however good Daryl, Maggie and the others are making this season, Carol and Lance are making this season just that much better.

AvionPrince165 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Ezekiel get in better shape and will ask a favor to the doctor. Eugene see Stephanie again to talk with her. And we sre the flashforwad in this episode. Maggie still dont trust Hornsby. We see also Mercer and the stephanie chick and learn that they are brother and sister. Hornsby get inside Alexandria. Ezekiel and the doctor get arrested but get save by Carol. Mercer and Princess had sex also and get Mercer not used that kind of relationship and make him self doubt. Hornsby try to convince the son of Maggie to tell him the truth but that not succeed.the friend of Ezekiel need the operation right now becausa his state is getting worst. Max the "Stephanie" chick offer her help to Eugene. We see again the friend of Daryl ger an offer with Hornsby.

Still pretty nice to follow and we wondering how things will become between Alexandria and Commonwealth: peace or war? Eugene and Max will get together or not? Ezekiel will get bettter with time or not? Is the friend of Daryl will work with Hornsby or not?

A quieter one
Leofwine_draca5 October 2022
A quieter episode, this one, but then it is the penultimate one before the season break so we wouldn't expect it to be all-out at this stage. Hornsby makes for an interesting villain, far better and more convincing to have a politician bad guy than the unpleasant Alpha of the last few seasons. The material with Ekeziel screams of filler and the Eugene-led undercover plot is quite quiet and undemanding. But the scenes with Maggie and Daryl are better and filled with suspense, as they should be. From this point on the season is on a real rundown now and it'll be interesting to see what they do with the next episode.

The strong point of this episode was Lance, he is what fans expect from a villain, clever vibe with charisma.

His speech reminds me of Negan and the governor.

"Trust" is full of tension and romance, building anticipations for the mid-season finale
Holt34429 March 2022
Episode 11.15 titled "Trust" has finally caught up with the six-month time jump teased at the end of episode "No Other Way." Which saw Daryl in Commonwealth amour, several soldiers and Lance Hornsby at the gates of Hilltop. There's two sub-plots involving the Commonwealth, Ezekiel and what he have been up to but also the investigation Rosita and Eugene are doing on the Miltons. The sub-plots are important to the bigger picture and what is to come, but could easily be seen as filler, but I promise that it's there for a reason. I think the editing and pacing was perfect in this episode, with some great transitions. Kevin Deiboldt penned the script for 11.15, and he have grown to be among the better writers as he wrote three episodes for season 10 and the season 11 horror episode "On the Inside," and I really hope he's here to stay as the writing is spectacular in this penultimate episode for S11B, the overall writing was brilliant and the dialogue felt right. Overseen by Angela Kang, the writing for this episode is consistent of the previous episodes in Part 2. Though I liked the writing, I think Ezekiel's part in the episode could have been handled better as now it felt like an afterthought, still enjoyed the scenes though. The episode uses the big budget wisely, making it brilliant both technically and the acting and so on, the camera work are brilliant and it's visually a great episode, an overall impressive production.

This was Lily Mariye's Walking Dead directorial debut, but she directed two episodes of the World Beyond spinoff series. So she is familiar with the Universe and I think she did a great job with directing a TWD episode. She directed 11.15 "Trust" and there are so many great scenes in this episode and there's not one single bad performance throughout the entire episode. The cinematography is once again breathtaking and incredible, just right for the show, the way it was shot and so on, simply brilliant. The sets were detailed and perfect, and so are the art and production design. Superb sound design and a musical score both gripping and dramatic. It's one of many things on the technical side of things that the show succeeds perfectly with.

"Trust" has lots of things that fans of The Walking Dead will like. With the previous episodes having covered the 6 months that led to the time jump, we finally get down to the cliffhangers we waited patiently for, and it was an incredible episode. The best performances were Josh Hamilton as Lance Hornsby and that's mostly it for truly brilliant performances, there were mostly plot development in the episode and not material for the actors to truly shine. Though I also liked Norman Reedus as Daryl Dixon, Lauren Cohan as Maggie Greene and Michael James Shaw as Michael Mercer in the episode. Honorable mention goes to Khary Payton as Ezekiel for still doing an amazing job with the character. Only one episode remains of S11B and the tension is there, so is the suspension and drama. In previous seasons, the "soap opera" and romantic writing was mostly lacking but it's handled so much better in this season, especially this episode. The writers and especially Angela Kang are truly building onto something special, something memorable, I anticipate 11.16 to be phenomenal. Build up is needed and the show have been doing a great job with it. This was a great episode but it didn't top the other two episodes for me, but still a great episode.

What have they done to this show
emmajon-415735 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I used to look forward to TWD but now I feel that I'm just waiting for it to end. This episode had a few glimpses of what it used to be but in general it has become a completely different show. So what if they think something is a bit off with the Commonwealth - just leave and fend for yourselves like you used to or stay and put up with a dystopian future where things aren't entirely perfect. I think the shows writers have completely forgotten that this programme is supposed to be about a zombie apocalypse. It's really terrible writing. Yet again Negan doesn't appear, even though he's the only cast member with enough charisma to carry the show since Rick left. I'm actually sad at how bad it has all become.

highly boring
roxanagholami9 July 2022
Things are being way too boring; I have just been waiting for these episodes to FINISH and that's highly bad for a TWD fan- the series has lost its personality eversince all the main character have been out of it for no reason. I meab they are making us wait for them many seasons and that's unreasonable!
