Indian remake of Stagefright
BandSAboutMovies6 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
The title of this movie is This Is Possible and it proves it. It was shot in 48 hours and is, yes, the Indian Kannadian remake of Michele Soavi's Stagefright but has nearly an hour of comedy before becomes a remake of that film, except that the owl-masked killer in this is nearly cute in costume while equally being horrifying while out of it, ranting, spewing blood and sweating himself into a frenzy.

Director and writer Dinesh Baboo is known for films like Amrutha Varshini and Inspector Vikram. This somehow has cops that aren't as ineffectual as the originals, but that movie sets such a bar for the worst police work in the history of giallo, if not film itself.

This movie also has some deranged music - check it out on YouTube - that somehow mixes an evil voice saying "Beware!" with a swing beat, distorted guitars and a sing-along chorus that shouts "Somewhere!" It also tends to alternate between English and Kannada and has rap parts and drums that had to come from an 808 they found at a swap meet. It's so good.

In case you ever get down, remember that you live in a world that did not only create Stagefright but also this remix remake ripoff of it and that it's actually good. I mean, the chainsaw scene makes it in here, even if it's a budget version, but how wonderful are movies that can cross the borders of the world?

Maniac killer on the loose
csn_611 October 2011
In a drama theater , a maniac killer is on the loose bumping off one by one. A drama director, artists and crew etc ..One visit to a hospital proves deadly as the killer escapes in to the Drama hall.

Will he be caught, if so who and how?? The premise is good but the low budget and short time frame is strictly amateurish and leaves much to be desired. The movie though is a multi starer with Anant nag, Shankar Nag, Srinath, Devaraj, Ramesh and Revati, Mahalaskhmi and Disco Shanti. There is no song but some weird background music, and overall it is not a well fleshed out story and made within some record time of 48 hrs and sadly the effort shows. When suspense is replaced by gory scenes and horror becomes horrible , it becomes difficult to digest this film which sadly tries to imitate Hollywood maniac killer movies but fails!

Shot in 48 hours doesn't mean it's well written or well directed

Kudos for thee world record of shooting the film in 48 hours. It takes a lot of rehearsals and quickness to do that. But if the writing falters, it will take a blind group of fans to make the film a hit. Here even though the film has some stellar cast of Shankar Nag, Anant Nag, Srinath, Devaraj, Tiger Prabhakar, Revathi, Mahalakshmi, Ramesh Doddanna, Avinash, Ramesh Bhatt etc. It still has holds no value over it's writing. The film if it had to be shot in 48 hours, it definitely had to be a single location film, at least when it came to shooting locations. It probably did. The main story happens inside a studio 'house'. But what falls down is the characters and certain scenes. A serial killer guarded in a hospital. Why? The dumb police constables who don't do their duty, the idiot girls who can't stay overnight for drama practice, the dumb security guard who goes home and comes back after the film is done, the cliché writer and his costume, the dumb scooby doo type running around while chased by a serial killer...such moments make it cringe worthy. I love the actors but pathetic writing and direction.

One of the best Cult movie of all time. Must watch. Really Shankar Nag is legend. Movie shooted in 36hours. Super crew. No songs, no build up dialogue, no fight
