Roy's family have moved house and he is now going to a new school - Sandyford Progressive Learning. While he misses his old friends he isn't missing some other people but one of them he will soon meet again. some of his new classmates decide to make a film about him but Roy is worried it will highlight his cartoon side and not help him fit in.

Everybody seems to be interested in makeovers and Roy is also tired of looking the same. He decides to use fake tan to give himself a more bronzed appearance. He also sneaks into Mr. Hammond's office and borrows his hair growth tonic but soon discovers that it has effects he could never have imagined.

Roy becomes obsessed by a new computer game and his family, friends and teachers have to take drastic action to snap him out of his preoccupation. Meanwhile Mr. Hammond is waiting for the day when he can break his fast and enjoy an expensive box of chocolates he's been saving for a long time.

At the snooker club Roy's dad bumps into his old playing rival Clive "The Tornado" who is Deco's uncle. Clive taunts him about past defeats and that leads Bill to bet that Roy could beat Deco at snooker. Roy is put on an intensive training programme with the O'Brien reputation at stake. Meanwhile Maura's reputation is also at stake as she hosts the snobby and shallow "ladies" of the local book club.

A chip van opens up outside the school and spoils its efforts to encourage healthy eating. Roy is especially keen on the fast food and then discovers after an incident at the van he has an advertisement for it on his body. Abby sees advantages in Roy's new promotional possibilities but problems are not too far away.

Mr. Hammond is staging a performance of Snow White and casts Tara and Roy in the lead parts, much to Deco's annoyance as he wanted to be the Prince. Roy is nervous about having to kiss Tara and receives some advice off his sister. He really likes Tara and rises to the occasion in a way nobody could have imagined.

A bizarre incident with a projector results in Roy and Mr. Hammond having their personalities swapped into each other's bodies. Roy seems to lose his sense of fun while Mr. Hammond acts in a very immature and accident-prone manner which is especially bad news as he has to make a presentation to get extra funding for the school.
