Fair play to Jake Olive and his friends for trying something incredibly daunting, but there is just far too much wrong with this.

Jake seems to play Arthur Dent, and while his smoking persona in therapy is far, far better than the portrayal of Harley Quinn, it is too weak to be taken seriously.

That goes for the cinematography and sound editing too. All of it was just too weak to be taken seriously. The script is also weak.

If you have something powerful, you don't need to film the entire idea to prove it. It should speak for itself. And Jake, while I appreciate your bravado for trying this, your script should not have been tackled. It's best that you get some input and perspective from straight-talking friends before moving forward with this kind of work.

It gets a 4 for effort. There was a fair amount of effort in trying to take on this project. But the skill and experience involved was just too feeble to impress anyone.

I hope this a lesson for you to take, and that you go on and produce impressive material in the future.

I found this on IMDb and was intrigued enough to try and find the film. It looked like the director posted it on YouTube, so I decided to sit down with a few friends and watch it. I'm not 100% sure this was the actual finished movie, because it was really choppy. However, this was posted onto the director/writer/stars (things very rarely go well when this is the case unless you're Mel Gibson) YouTube channel on the day IMDb says this project was released.

I think they had a solid idea here, but a lot of that was lost in the transition from script to screen. This movie is a mess and it was really confusing.

The entire things feels like a documentary almost, but at the same time it ins't marketed as one from this IMDb page or the trailer. I don't know if they just ran out of time or equipment to film the rest of the scenes, but for some reason half of the movie is someone directly reading the script in a monotone voice while the script is literally on the screen. The best part is the script isn't even correctly formatted, so it just ended up bothering me the entire time.

The story is a good sequel to Todd Phillips "Joker", but it lacks a lot of cohesive structure. It just feels like you're watching a fever dream, but not in the way Requiem for a Dream might make you feel. It just doesn't make a lot of sense and since they keep reading off of the script in random scenes and don't have visuals to go along with them. In fact, when they do have visuals it's usually something taken from another medium. I remember a part where they showed the restaurant scene from Scarface for no reason, and it was really confusing.

A good example of this is when Arthur Fleck cuts his cheeks and creates his scars, it immediately jumps to a picture form what I'm assuming is the comics, in which Joker hugs Harley Quinn. Why not just film that? Why not show us Harley Quinn's reaction to Jokers scars using actors and filming it. Isn't that what a movie is supposed to do?

There's just no ambition here, which is something I look for in indie films. They're meant to stray away from the status quo and be unique, since the goal of an indie film isn't necessarily to do well in the box office, but garner attention for the people involved to hopefully start a career (you might disagree with that sentiment, but if you want to do well in this industry then that's how you need to see it). This project really didn't do that unfortunately. I think it would've been a bit better had they just taken the time to plan out and film the scenes where someone is just reading the script to us. It might not have come out perfect regardless, but at least there'd be something more to talk about or give credit for.

I wish nothing but the best of luck to the projects creator and everyone involved, and I hope you continue to improve and work on movies. I will say this though, learn how to format a screenplay. You will never get a project backed by a producer or studio if you don't. They look for things like that.
