This is the shortest featurette(I suppose one could claim it's also the only one...) on the DVD of The Core(and the one that has its own page here on the site), at 11 minutes. It's a making-of documentary, and it consists of interviews, clips of film(note that some later portions of it are spoiled in this), behind the scenes footage, CGI in various stages and production design sketches. The writers talk about focusing on the characters and storytelling, the unusually talented cast for a sci-fi flick(they also point that out, themselves) go into their roles and the challenges with the abstract nature of this(before the animated stuff is done, they just have to imagine it, to react to it) and the crew describe trying to avoid clichés of the disaster film genre and not letting the FX take over. Everyone has something to say, and the editing of this tends to strike the balance between leaving us wanting more, and not cutting so soon that we get attention-whiplash from it suddenly detailing something else(a lot is covered in little time). There is some humor in this. I recommend this to anyone who wants to know more about the movie itself. 7/10
