It's a steady start.

Somewhere in the country is a fortune, hidden, and people are after it. Two have died, an snow another, The Inspector in charge of the case is struggling, and given help in the form of Intelligence Man Mr Wheatfield.

I would have thought initially that this was penned by Francis Durbridge, it has that sort of style, as it progresses you see it doesn't quite have his eye for detail or for the subtle points, but it's still a good watch.

Part one has my interest, even if the production is a little clunky. John Thaw is always worth seeing in anything, and his character is interesting, as is the dynamic with his flashy father.

Part one done, I am intrigued.

A Murder Missing

Warning: Spoilers
There have been two murders, a hitman from America who can take out his target from very long range.

Inspector Reaygo is at a loss. He has now been teamed up with the mysterious Mr Wheatfield (Peter Sallis) from the security services who is letting on less than he knows.

Somewhere in a small country village people are after great wealth and it is linked to gangsters in the USA.

Tom Hunter (John Thaw) wants information from his businessman father George regarding his spending habits especially given all the nubile younger women he hangs around with. George will not tell and he ends up dead.

A heavy handed episode. It is hard to take away much from the opener. Everyone seems to be bad tempered and shouting too much.

The only softly spoken and nice one seems to be Wheatfield. I bet he has something to hide.
