Still giving a 10, but ...

This is a great episode. The writers keep finding plot developments that get inside tricky societal issues in clever and unprecedented ways. Send Sheldon to Bible camp, and put him up against an intellectual rival, and you get a compelling metaphor for how the Bible is used in our society for reasons other than spiritual development. Very nicely done.

And, of course, whenever Paige shows up, get ready to be impressed with the subtle naturalness of her acting. And the Georgie character continues to grow, through trial and error, into the astute player we know he's eventually going to become.

So it definitely gets a 10. It's really great. The "but ..." part in the title is because of this -- in the last couple of episodes, the writers have portrayed the main character, our protagonist, in such a way as to be moving toward unlikability. You're gonna get yourself in trouble if you do much more of that.

The show is "Young Sheldon." He can have faults, but we need to like him.

This is one of the best episodes of the show so far. I don't remember when was the last time I laughed so hard watching the show. Everyone will love this episode except Christians and religious people!

Disappointing and Unfunny

Warning: Spoilers
Remember when this series was a COMEDY? I do - that is why this season is so incredibly disappointing.

There is a time and a place to express "religious opinions". A family sitcom is NOT one of those places. This week's episode was particularly "preachy" and not in an even remotely funny.

The writers obviously have strong personal opinions about religion. But they should keep these comments out of their writing - it negatively impacts the quality of the show.

The Younger version of Sheldon Cooper should come across as quirky and endearing - not as having need of mental health counseling. If the viewers think Sheldon is annoying, they think the show is annoying.

All in all this season jas been very disappointing.

Paige seems more like a subject on a true crime episode on the ID channel - not a comedic sitcom. When watching comedy I want to laugh and feel an attachment to the characters. A character like Paige - disturbed sad sullen and confused - does not allow one to get too comfortable with her. I skip the episodes she is in.
