All Roads Lead to Matoska
lavatch23 December 2022
Warning: Spoilers
For the Sokol device to be completed, the makers desperately need uranium. The quick-thinking Jack is able to lure Levan Zubkov, the arms dealer, to a safe house where he reveals the site where the uranium is to be delivered. In one of the most tense moments of the episode, Zubkov finally breaks and discloses the location of Matoska, which ironically is the site where the 1969 project was terminated.

Almost simultaneously, Luka is torturing the Russian President's Chief of Staff, and he extracts information that may be vital. The bureaucrat reveals the code name of the secret project: Operation Crossbow.

After scouring the photographic evidence of the assassination of Russia's Defense Minister in Prague, Greer spots a detail that leads him to think that Alena Kovac's bodyguard named Radek was instrumental in the plot. Greer's team conducts a search of Radek's home which turns up a photograph from his college days: one of his professors was none other than Alena's father, Petr. In a chilling cat-and-mouse game, Greer questions the Russian-born Petr over a drinking session of vodka.

When Jana, the wife of Radek, recognizes that their apartment has been searched, she alerts her husband. Radek then rushes Alena away from the scene after she has just announced the acceptance of NATO missiles in the Czech Republic. In a sinister move, the car carrying the President veers off from the entourage. Alena Kovac may be in grave danger!

As alwayts.. a lot of things going on at the same time.. Ukranian president is aware that her chief of security is in cohoots in the assassination of the Russian minister of defense.. but greer for some reason did not mention the dude used to be in a unit that her own dad was also in..

a lot of flashbacks that got me confused.. dunno which one is who... i guess the dude that got shot and went down the stairs was the ukranians presidents dad but for some reason nobody went after him after he refused to kill the scientists....

guess the dude in charge was the old man that is helping jack.. ok.

Jack ryan is after the dudes that are smugglinh uranium.. i see what is going on here.. at first i was confused.. now a little bit less.

What the f--- happened?
mshallop28 December 2022
I'm a big fan of the series but hard stop on this episode about 20 minutes in. I couldn't finish as I had no idea what had happened in the previous 5-10 minutes or so. I know the director is trying to be uber-realistic and super emo edgy and all with their filming style but, ffs, why make the filming so dark you can't tell who's shooting who in the face?!? Flash! Flash! Thud. WTF just happened?!? (Quick check to settings to see that, yup, brightness is cranked to max!)

Someone got out of a car, opened the trunk, and pulled out something that was probably important but the shot was so dark, I have no idea what. Crossbow? Body? Shotgun? Shovel?

There's a scene where someone in some ops center (couldn't tell who - too dark) was watching JR on their monitors - after a cut from the scene supposedly showing JR scampering about, they cut back to the ops center scene and you can see JR better on their tiny monitors within the scene, then when JR _is_ the scene.

How are you expected to advance the plot like this? I mean, isn't the whole point to show us what's happening, to tell us the story?

Geh. Do over.

Episode 304

Warning: Spoilers
Not only is the major story getting a little bit boring this season, but it also feels like they are getting way too political. I do not care about the infighting at the CIA or whose career is on the line when we know in a show like this no one will face any major consequences. If they do get relieved of their duty it will be for a very short spell, anyone who has ever watched television can tell you that.

Not disinterested in Jack Ryan, the short 8 episode seasons ensure you never get to that point, but this is also nothing to write home about. A lot of filler and forgettable scenes in tonight's epsiode.

It's episode 4, and you still haven't figured out that the president you're talking about is that of the Czech Republic and not Ukraine, even though they have mentioned the Czech Republic and Prague, like, a dozen of times, if not more. I know that some people don't know their geography, but this is getting ridiculous.

As for the show itself, I don't know what happened but the previous seasons were much more engaging. The plot is convoluted, Jack's character is getting less and less interesting, I can barely sit through an episode. I hope, in the next season, if the series is renewed, it can find its way back to what used to make it such a great binge watch.

Dark-O-Vision
mdavidholmes12 June 2023
It was dark throughout, even in the day time. So they go hunting, at night, in a dark forest. I have no idea who shot one of the hunters in the forest, or why. Literally could not see a thing.

This could have been a spoiler, but I have no idea what happened.

Atmosphere is one thing, this is something else. I might as well have been watching a series of black frames; oh maybe I was...

I have been noticing Dark-O-Vision more and more on TV and also films. It's like everything is filmed in a dark spooky basement. The only thing is, on those old movies you could see what was happening. Turn on some 1Ks or something.....
