Dueling Flames
DKosty12322 April 2011
Warning: Spoilers
The script is a little predictable. Seems the kids both had prior to their wedding a rich boyfriend and girlfriend. Both mom's were so wild about their former flames that when one of them calls Eve about her daughter, she neglects to tell him her daughter is now married. Kaye takes offense to this and then the war starts.

Each mother tries to one-up the other about their child's former flame. Then, after Kaye blows up and says she is divorcing Eve as an In-Law, both former flames show up to add fire to the argument. The plot thickens as there are offers of boat cruises on a yacht and free shoes. The kids decode to trick Eve & Kaye by annoying they are going to leave each other to be with their former flames. This leads Eve & Kaye to desperate but bumbling efforts to prevent that from happening.

The hall mark of this series, more physical gags, are included including the accidental inflation of a life raft on the yacht.

You know that they didn't go for realism when Eve doesn't know the name of a coast to coast shoe store.

Warning: Spoilers
"So my son wasn't good enough for your daughter?" So believes Kay when Suzie's old boyfriend Carter Case (Roger Ewing) calls out of the blue, turning out to be a very wealthy man with diamond mines in Africa. Kay is furious and reminds Eve of the seductive Anna Maria De Bello (Adrienne Hayes) whom Jerry was once involved with, The handsome Carter, shows up, unaware that Suzie has gotten married, and at Kay's urging, Anna Maria shows up as well. Jerry and Suzie decide to teach their mothers a lesson and announce that they are getting a divorce to marry their exes. Of course, the way they make it sound to Eve and Kay come off as very sordid, like something ironically out of an Italian movie.

The scheming of the mothers-in-laws backfires on them when they realize even after just a couple of months they won't be related anymore, and even more how much they really like their daughter and son-in-law. Eve and Kay hide out on Carter's yacht, creating more hilarity as Herb and Roger show up along with Carter, Suzie and Jerry. Overhearing the truth, Eve and Kay are about to reveal themselves when an accidental inflation of the lifeboat causes it to expand to an enormous size. Ewing, with his Robert Redford good looks, and Hayes, with her gorgeous Mediterranean features, could certainly be a threat to any marriage, but Eve and Kay must learn a major lesson about true love and what really makes a perfect relationship work, and come to appreciate whom their children chose as a life partner.
