Akiva is an interesting character, a sweet guy who's also undecided and irresponsible. He's barely holding it together after Libbi's mysterious death. She was the strong one of the couple and Akiva is just floating around without her.
His marriage with Racheli could have had a stabilising influence, even as a fictitious one but Racheli has some health issues that Akiva finds hard to accept, therefore he lets her down big time.
Not sure what's going on with Shulem as he seemed eager to get rid of Nechama, but now that she's engaged to his brother, he seems upset.
