There is one great scene in "The Artist" that the viewer won't soon forget. Peter Carrier as the nervous Jack does a magnificent performance. Under pressure to produce a painting, he chain smokes, he fidgets, he leaves the scene and returns, only to shock the viewer. Mike Getz, as Frank, is sent to put pressure on Jack to come up with the painting. He slyly imposes a deadline on Jack. The viewer can see Jack slowly breaking down. The supporting cast in the art gallery scene cannot seem to understand and appreciate the off-beat paintings. The background jazz music in the critical scene coincides with Jack's case of nerves, until the critical turning point in this (not for little children) little gem.
