I'll start by saying this isn't the best Macgyver episode but it will have people talking and it might cause some divide. I'll admit that I was disappointed in seeing Murdoc but this has to be one of his most intellectual plans I've seen on the show. The way he hacked phoenix's communication and collected 'data' he would then use to get the team off their game. The one that made the episode was Riley's (re)confession to Bozer. It put things into motion that will have great significance on the love life of our boy wonder Macgyver.

I'm neither on the side of Riley or Desi I'll be happy with whatever outcome we get. I must say both ladies looked stunning in this episode. Desi with her new haircut and Riley in her usual style but remarkable. It seems earthquakes and foreign countries do a lot for Macgyver's and Riley's feelings for each other. Riley was quite sexy at the start of that episode (Season 4x4).

We got another off-camera death this season this time it was Leanna. She was a strong female character which I truly enjoyed. Good episode and it made me smile so hard in the ending and I'm looking forward to seeing what comes next. I'm giving this episode a solid 7. R.I.P Leanna 🌹

The story started out with a surprise twist that made for an interesting episode that brought two long-time villians together. However, the whole sub-plot with Riley having feelings for Mac and Mac being about to pop the question took a ridiculous turn which just can't go anywhere good without too much suspension of disbelief. If it goes the way it looks, either the people wouldn't be able to work together again and we'll lose a cast member or it will be an unrealistic resolution. If it goes the other way, I think the net result will be a break-up and no romantic relationship for Mac with the people not being able to work together again or the resolution being unrealistic. It may not yet be a jump-the-shark moment, but the sharks are sure circling nearby...

I like the new MacGyver but this 5th season lacks new vilains and problems. I say villains' as they act like comic book vilains instead only out to d something bad to the heroes. We all know how it will end. Throwing personal issues and the lack of communication between the team members as a plot enhancer to add some drama in there feels cheap to push this episode forwards and it's something we have seen done many times before and has been excecated better. The actors make as much as they can from the script, kudo's for that. The fight scene's are getting more predictable and formulatic with every show. Rather we had less fighting and now and then a truly original and quality fight ever 4 episodes. But in the end it's the story and the writing that pulls this otherwise excellent show down.
