E10-12 is award winning animation
Buddhafrog11 February 2023
S1 started good but not great, but the last two 3-episode arcs (E7-9, E10-12) were just incredible. I felt S2 started out similarly but I wasn't expecting it to end nearly as strong as S1 b/c the story material for Percy and Whitestone is perfect for animation.

But I wasn't expecting S2E10-12 to rival S1. In fact it's better, starting with E10. Beautiful animation and action. This telling is close to the original game, but somehow this episode did it even better. I felt like the story of Grog has so much more meaning to me know. (Travis Willingham's acting is so good)

I easily rated this a 10... but then I saw E11 and E12 and now I'm trying to hack this system so I can rate those at an 11. I was delighted at how well they were able to tell the story from the game. It was brilliant and better than I could've imagined. The pace slows down and we get to really know our characters. Thrilled.

A Fantastic Second Round - Season 2 Review
JoshuaMercott9 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
First Impressions:

The animation quality remains one of the most engaging and entertaining elements in "The Legend of Vox Machina" and season 2 consistently delivered on that count. Great writing, witty dialogues, a geared-up storyline, and superb characterization further enriched this gripping second round in the series.

Story Analysis:

The story picked up from when the Vox Machina anti-heroes defeated Brimscythe, the blue dragon. Just when I thought things couldn't get more thrilling, they did. A new threat was taking shape, starting with an unprecedented coordinated dragon attack on the Tal'Dorei capital city of Emon.

It felt like seasons 1 and 2 were seamlessly linked, and I liked how they went about doing that. Called the Chroma Conclave, four Dragons - Thordak, Raishan, Umbrasyl, and Vorugal -pulled off a concerted assault on Emon. Their actions set an unforgettable tone early in "The Legend of Vox Machina" season 2.

The team at Critical Role deserves a standing ovation for ideating something so captivating, relatable, and rooted in realistic settings and outcomes - for an animated series, that is.

Vox Machina's quest for the deity-killing Vestiges, the tough truths they received from the sphinx Osysa, Scanlan's original songs, the Fey realm, and dark character-driven moments all added to this season's storytelling and world-building jewels.

Editing was great. Animation was stellar. Musical scoring was amazing. Screenplay was superb. Direction was clever.

Final Notes:

Everything about the Matron of Ravens, the toxin-wielding Chroma Dragon named Umbrasyl, and the chief Chroma Dragon called Thordak (aka "The Cinder King") were unforgettable.

The music and fight choreography this season were brilliant. The plot was thrilling and contained a good many heartwarming and heartbreaking moments. Character-branching was exemplary as well.

The story continues in season 3. Here's hoping the next leg of the adventures of Vox Machina get here post-haste.

In just two seasons, Critical Role's "The Legend of Vox Machina" has already proven to be one of the most outstanding animated series produced in recent years.

The Legend of Vox Machina - S02E12 (2023) An almost perfect ending
claszdsburrogato24 July 2023
It was expected that this season finale would still leave it open for a third, but was it a good choice? In my view this was great, because if they ended all the arcs in this last episode it would be a mess. What they try to do they do excellently and make this one of the best episodes of the series. But, I would like this episode to be the best ever. It ends up not being the best because it has some dialogues that try to be deep and end up being very generic, but that's not the majority. However, something that gets in the way much more is trying to create drama on top of a certain type of situation twice and which, on top of that, has already been used other times during the series. Even with these flaws, this episode is wonderful and is perhaps the second best of the entire series and leaves a very interesting hook.
