For a bit of background, the team was investing a point of interest 5000 feet above the triangle area. It was conjectured that the point might represent some kind of portal into another dimension, or a wormhole. The team decided to take a helicopter near the point and investigate any anomalous readings in the electromagnetic spectrum. They did not see anything anomalous, but their helicopter kept getting a reading that something was about 50 feet below the copter (OK... for you gainsayers on IMDB... this is what is known as "unusual".) The crew on the ground did not see anything below the copter (maybe the anomalous feature was invisible or cloaked). Nevertheless, a very frightening thing had happened and caused the crew to abort the rest of the test (because the distance between what was indicated as ground below the copter was not visible and was beginning to close in on the copter.) For the safety of everyone they aborted the test.
Even though the test was inconclusive, it indicated that the area around the point of interest was volatile. Travis could have been getting near a wormhole and could have been swallowed up into an alternate universe or landed up on the other side of "our" universe. Before you laugh, science fiction sometimes becomes science fact.
I looked at the synopsis of season three and noted the crew did not experiment with ideas I thought of applying to the area. How about "sonics". They tried rockets and electricity, why not sound waves? I would use levels unheard by humans to see what would happen (maybe nothing), but maybe something would be stirred by certain sound levels. They could have Dragon pump sound waves into the area below the center of the triangle and have Travis and Erik watching from the command post. This could cause the crew to have headaches.
As far as tests go! I could think of LOTS of tests to bombard that point of interest with!
It was a great episode worthy of a 10 as it was the best of the 2nd season! I find that most of the IMDB reviewers are morons! They wouldn't understand science if it hit them in the face. This is fun stuff!
