There are uncountable romantic television comedies from Germany in the last 10 years and 95% of them are really not worth a watch. This one from five years ago, however, is a nice exception, even if the title is a bit on the cheesy side. It runs for roughly 90 minutes just like all of them do. Director Sibylle Tafel used her long-time experience as a television filmmaker and created something good here. The writing team did a fine job too. Bettina Börderding, one of the two, worked on Detlev Buck's "Bibi & Tina" films recently. The central character is played by Jule Ronstedt and you may have seen her in "Grave Decisions". Heio von Stetten, her male counterpart, is also a prolific and experienced television actor. The story is more than a love story, it's also about (un)employment, single mothers and football. Very basically summarized. The rest of the cast is fairly unknown at least to me, even if I read in their bodies of work that they have played smaller parts in "The Grand Budapest Hotel", "Downfall", "Wo ist Fred?" and some more known German productions. Some of the dialogs could have been better, but it's not too bad either and I also really liked the ending, which is not one of these 100% happy gooey over-the-top endings, but smartly written and yet puts a smile on your face. It also does not hurt the film that the plot in terms of love story is fully predictable. Recommended.
