Messy and boring
guisreis13 September 2023
We can think about documentaries as pertaining to one of two groups: the more narrative-oriented ones and the more experimental ones. Both strategies impose risks. One the one hand, the former may lead to a bureaucratic and unimaginative outcome if not well done. On the other hand, the latter may be a messy chaos, making no sense and not engaging the spectator. Unfortunately, the second bad possibility is precisely what I found in this documentary. Unless the spectator is a hard fan of Alzira Espíndola, he/she will probably be bored and confused. The importance of the musician, her career path... everything is lost in a too loose script and edition. It was very tough to watch it until the end; indeed, even beginning to watch it was difficult.
