Episode 7 of "Showtime's" season one of "The First Lady" series called "Nadir" was one stand up and take action like episode in which all three first ladies fought for rights despite obstacles. Eleanor confronts the issue of race and segregation head on proving that all humans are created equal with rights. Meanwhile Betty despite dealing with addiction and substance abuse issues takes stand and campaigns for her man which helps Jerry win the Republican nomination. And not in the least Michelle stands up for gun control legislation after being personally affected by the issue of gun tragedy. Another strong showcase episode of the series that history and political buffs will enjoy.

This episode focuses on the First Ladies dealing with controversy as it relates to their husbands' campaigns. Eleanor must face the uphill battle presented by segregation. Betty Ford is given a list of what she can and can't do or say. Her addictions are also taking over her life. Michelle Obama gets into the gun control fray after Sandy Hook.
