Great Movie, but Producers Scammed by Distrinutor
RickBennette18 August 2016
The film itself is wonderful. An important thing to consider is that this film was created on a budget of nine thousand dollars. As such, the production quality and acting are superb and far above what is to be expected for a production budget this low.

The sad part of this is that the film's distributor manipulated the sales income enough to create a breach of contract with the film's investors. The film has been seen by tens of thousands of viewers, yet the distributor has failed to forward even one dollar of those funds to the producers of the movie. Most of the actors are young children who have been cheated out of receiving even a nickle for their arduous contribution to this film.

In addition, the distributor cut many portions of the film that elicited tender moments between the actors, so what you are seeing is a chopped up version of the original movie as created by the producers.

Turkles is such an okay movie. It cured my cats cancer. and it warmed my cold macaroni. my turtle though was mortified. it gave her flashbacks. i am also very upset how they didn't kiss in the end even though they went on 10000 dates. caution: if you are eating eggs while watching this movie you will choke on a roach. all though there it has some issues my family overdosed and maybe if there is sequel they will make another one

Bad movie, good laughs
spookydudedh5 December 2015
Warning: Spoilers
The lighting, the acting, the writing, everything about this movie is bad. Too many thing to pick fun of to post here. If you like cheesy, cliché, movies, then go ahead. And don't get me started on it's preachy theme. Basically, some guys want to steal turtle eggs, to eat or something like that, (SEA turtles. Do people even eat their eggs?) And they dig them up, the 13 year olds come in, catch the bad guys, (my favorite was Mr. comic relief, AKA, the dumb one) and get... scholarships. For saving turtles. I did see it a while ago, but I remember that it was something ridiculous like that. Although, it is one of those "good bad movies" meaning that it's fun to laugh at. And, whenever we see a bad movie, my family always compares it to turkles, so, in a way, one could say that it is memorable.

The acting is horrible
concintern7 August 2015
The previous reviewers must know the actors or film crew. The acting especially by the adults is horrible. I get this is a low budget film but the acting is so bad it is almost impossible to watch. My 11 and 9 year old even made fun of the movie. This movie entertained my 2 year old for a little bit. The message isn't horrible but it was hard to keep watching. We were expecting a dolphin tale type movie. The kid acting is OK and this movie would of been better if no adults were in it. The movie was appropriate for all ages which is a welcome change these days. I think a documentary movie that just showed facts would of been better. There is one good part. The music was really good even my kids cheered when the music started playing. Unfortunately there wasn't t enough music to make it better.

Best movie ever
fiahnalehnis26 July 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Though it is not animated, there are enough cartoon sound effects to make it seem so. I came out here looking for another hit Noah Centineo movie, and I was not disappointed. Turkles may be a defining moment for the filmmakers of this generation. It has thrilling twists and turns, and just about the smartest children that have ever walked the Earth. And who knew all you had to do to get a full ride scholarships was save thirty turkles of which .01 may survive to adulthood! Super educational, Centineo really started something here.

I watched this movie from start to finish
turnthefrogsgayy24 August 2019
I really did. I'm proud of that fact. With the aid of alcohol I analyzed the fascinating plot and puzzling characters. Watch this movie if you need to make an hour and a half feel much longer.

Fantastic Family Fun
bruce-688-2330476 June 2013
Longtime South Florida documentary filmmaker & author Frank Eberling shows what one can do on a shoestring budget with a great story. A group of pre-teens make it their mission to protect the nesting grounds of the endangered Loggerhead Turtle. Funny & emotional, without being cloying, this film will appeal to all age groups. Film legend Burt Reynolds puts in a meaningful cameo appearance in this environmentally aware feature-length effort. The cast is comprised for the most part by local kids making their first appearance on screen, but you'd never know it judging by the performances. Eberling's direction is spot on, and the storyline draws you into what is an extremely important issue---the protection of wildlife habitats, the human led destruction of which is the leading cause of species extinction in the natural world. I can't emphasize enough what a marvelous, family-friendly film Turkles is, and I strongly urge anyone with half a conscience to rush out and see it.

Kid-friendly fun
walt-823-92558925 April 2017
This film is a riot! Yes, it is no Hollywood production - but it is B- movie gold. Young kids will love this film, but be warned, some adults may be put off by the silliness. This is one of those rare films where the kids are the stars of the film and often the better actors. My young niece absolutely loved it just for that reason, plus, she likes anything about turtles!

The Epistemology of Turkles
bhshbaldwin27 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Do you like Drama? Horror? Romance? Science Fiction? Fantasy? Activism? Well too bad, this movie has none of that. Turkles is less of a narrative, and more of a philosophical treatise on the nature of the interaction between nature and interaction. Think Karl Marx meets Immanuel Kant meets the Bible. Yet, the film still manages to be a cinematic masterpiece, a true example of artistry born of the zeitgeist. If you like this film, make sure to check the even lesser known sequel, Turkles 2: The Electric Boogaloo. The Criterion Collection really needs to add this work to their back catalogue, earning the director a place among the greats, names like Akira Kurosawa and M Night Shyamalan. Truly, this film raises the question, "Is a life without Turkles really any life at all?"

A cultural milestone

Calling this piece of art a movie is nothing short of insulting to anyone who has an appreciation of fine art.

The idea that a person could ever truly understand this work of art, nay... dare i say transcendent experience, is laughable to say the least! The intricate details woven into the story, the raw emotion portrayed, i could never describe it adequately.

For too long my mind was clouded by questions of God, what is the meaning of life, what is my purpose? I have now found it. I truly believe that i was put on this earth to spread the message of Turkles.

In short. I pity the fool whose eyes have not beheld this pinnacle of achievement!
