A judge is murdered, and they need to find out who did it. - Sadly, this episode is rushed through, so fast that Jane doesn't seem to have time to react to any of it, or is it just poor acting? Throughout the series Jane has had a certain detachment, which one has thought to be part of the character, but perhaps it is just poor acting? It is also SAD when one can guess the villain right from the start, however unlikely he seems to be. It is almost like a formula, if someone is introduced at the start, he's probably the bad guy! The moment I saw the D.A. I said "that's probably the bad guy!" (hoping that it wasn't! It's starting to be a bit like the expendable guys in red, in Star Trek. If you see a new face, he's probably going to get killed, or in this case, be the villain. Almost like a routine / formula.) Some surprises in the episode, since it seemed to be more than 1 plot, there were a few leads, but pointless, and Jane just shows NO emotion or concern over what he's doing. One wonders if it the character who has become so careless and secure in knowing he'll always solve everything, or bad acting! One begins to feel Jane is acting out of character, if he's supposed to care for the people he works with, but doesn't show it, because he knows the outcome, as we do? His superior is suspended because of him, and he doesn't seem to care in the slightest, and although we KNOW he's going to solve it all, and get her reinstated at the end, (as always) it's like the whole thing is railroaded through at hyper speed, before Jane can react to it! Hence the indifference? It is a contagious indifference, since the viewer starts to feel the same. There was so much going on, that this episode could have been split in two, with a cliff hanger when the serial killer gets shot, and then more involved research, or a chase, after who shot him, not just the ridiculous court wrap up they used. One wonders how much his character is paid for his consultancy, since he doesn't care that he is fined $16,000 for his silly attitude in court. Overall, a terrible episode. I will be watching the next one, since it has been an interesting series, but Jane's arrogant indifference is contagious.
