Nightsisters
jolan-vdm8 January 2011
The Nightsisters trilogy started off with a 'big' bang. First of all there was that spectacular space battle between Asajj Ventress and Jedi Obi-Wan and Anakin which lead out to a lightsaber duel on a Separatist command ship. What I liked here was the fact that Assaj was a really dangerous opponent and not like the other times she fought a Jedi. Then you could easily tell who was going to win but now she fought very swiftly and acrobatically giving everything she got. But that duel - which was pretty short because of the fast changes in scenes - was nothing compared to that of Dooku vs Asajj and her fellow Nightsisters. It was breathtaking! The last time we saw Dooku fight was on Tatooine against Anakin or - if you call this fighting - while he was trying to escape in 'Dooku Captured'. Though for me the best part of the episode were the flashbacks of Asajj. One word: Amazing.

This is beginning of Clone Wars
FiRE01024 May 2021
This episode is the turning point for Clone Wars, when it went from being a mediocre show to a great one. This episode and everything after it is when Clone Wars hits its stride.

This is where Clone Wars REALLY kicks off!
A_Kind_Of_CineMagic1 September 2020
Nightsisters is a superb episode and leads on to loads more superb episodes. It really is the point when things kick off and the show becomes a huge plus to the overall Star Wars story.

The storyline here is dark and grippingly exciting as Darth Sidious orders Dooku (Darth Tyrannus) to eliminate his apprentice Assajj Ventress. The reason is given that she is becoming more powerful and is perceived as a threat. Reading between the lines logically, Sidious simply does not trust her. She has no clear loyalty to him and he fears Dooku and her together might try to challenge him.

Ventress does not take kindly to her mentor's betrayal.

It is a great story and the action is tremendous with an excellent space battle and some epic lightsaber duels.

This adds to the lore of Star Wars and is fantastic entertainment.

My rating: 10/10.

Nightsisters

This episode really proves that Count Dooku is an absolute badass to an extend that we did not get to see in the prequels. The premise of this episode is kinda brilliant and has a big emotional pull. Asajj Ventress is one of the most interesting characters and seeing her betrayed like this left a lot to be desired, so to see her go back to her roots, as well as the introduction to the Nightsisters, was a great way to take her storyline. The episode was awesome and had a lot of moments that I have remembered since I first saw it. I doubt that Dooku would simply trust Mother Talzin after that attack, even if they managed to fool him. That did not seem like it was in-character with what Dooku would have actually done. But he is a bit of a dummy, so I guess it's fine.

More than decent
xanderdnt8 May 2024
The episode was a little more than decent, I think people over here overrate it. Palpatine forces Dooku to to kill Ventress and later she takes revenge, which is what would happen in any Star Wars series or movie. At least in this chapter we have a good taste of how powerful a Sith Lord can be. The plot remains open and I like it because a very good history will be worked on (or at least that is expected).

I have been watching this series from the begging for years and I really would like to finish it, I think this episode is the kick off I needed, if I share what people say here that it went from being a mediocre series to being a decent and entertaining series, let's hope it improves to being a epic star wars series in the future.

Greater emotional potency
thegreendrinker18 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
One of the things that Clone Wars has largely been lacking up until season three is what I would call "emotional potency". The show rarely tries to evoke strong emotions in the viewer and the characters themselves rarely feel strong emotions themselves. This episode begins to rectify that error. Asajj Ventress howls with rage as she fights Anakin and Obi Wan and their fight feels quicker and more desperate than past duels. Asajj's flashbacks display her Freudian excuse for being the way she is- she lost her old master and it caused her to want revenge against the universe. The fight with Dooku versus the Nightsisters is quite snappy too, even if it doesn't quite capture the brutality of the first lightsaber duel.

I rate this a 7, however, because Asajj still doesn't feel like a fully developed person. The episode laid the groundwork for potential character development, but she still is, even by the end of the episode, a revenge machine and little else. What does she think about the Separatist cause? What are her feelings about things not related to revenge? Why does she still have loyalty to the Nightsisters despite them giving her up a long time ago? I am not saying all of these questions needed to be answered in this episode, but that more needs to be done before she starts to feel truly three-dimensional.
