Really great in almost every way....

Warning: Spoilers
But pick up the disk YOU MORON!!

I really hate when a show is so well thought out and well put together and then you put something so stupid in there that it undermines the whole show.

When Will approaches Ruth in the park SHE IS BEING WATCHED BY ANDY. I apologize for shouting but its so infuriating, how could she not see Roy come up and poison her in the middle of the whole damn park????

AND IT GETS WORSE... How are we supposed to believe that Will, whose whole job is to be observant, a trained analyst, does not seem to notice that even though Ruth said she HAS SOMETHING YOU'VE GOT TO SEE' that he doesn't notice the disk in her hand?? And walks away without it?

I'm sorry but this whole scene doesn't ruin, but significantly taints the whole show for me. Just so lazy and unnecessary, it really does appear that the writers were more concerned with setting up season 2 than they were with having a tight ending to season 1

A Quiet, Shocking Nailbiter
Better_TV27 April 2018
"Rubicon" knows how to create tension for its characters in small ways, with quiet scenes that almost effortlessly instill dread and paranoia.

There's plenty of that in this episode, as well as one big, wide-open scene that puts a major character in dire straits. Will they come out alive? You'll have to watch and find out.

"It's only bullets, whistling by," says Kale Ingram (Arliss Howard) in a pep talk to API analyst Miles (Dallas Roberts). "They can't kill you."

Trouble is, they totally can. And in this, the final episode of the entire show, nobody is safe - not their lives, nor their livelihoods and careers at the API.

I want this to be spoiler free so I really can'y say anymore. All I can say is: in 2018, they're still doing counter-terrorism and military shows: SEAL Team, The Looming Tower, Homeland, The Americans, etc. But not one of them is doing it like this show did back in 2010.

Don't let it fade away till no one remembers it! Watch it, rewatch it, and especially aspiring writers: Learn from it! It's the best conspiracy/spy/intel-gathering show EVER done on American TV. And it deserves its place in the annals of great TV history.

The haunting conclusion to a brilliant first season...
Red_Identity17 October 2010
Rubicon has been on a roll in the last four or five episodes. It has proved that it started slow and subtle but the ride has definitely been worth it. The season finale (or series finale based on the future) was a haunting and brilliant conclusion to an amazing first season.

In the episode before we learned what Kateb did, and the fate was shattering. People are now on a tense journey, not really knowing what will happen next and if the catastrophe at the bay is the beginning of a series of terrorist attacks. Will has already figured the conspiracy out, and he knows what most don't. He feels like someone else should know, maybe because he is worried about his future fate. Katherine Rhumor also finds some information on a secret possession, and decides to enclose it with Will.

There was a scene that left me speechless midway through the episode, and many will probably know which I am talking about. A scene in the park, which is directed, written, and shot so amazingly well that it's suspense is unbearable, and it has a tone of dread all the way through, until when the inevitable happens I was left completely stunned. It is such rich storytelling that I cannot give any more information. The fate of two other characters in the API team is sure to change things, and I will certainly miss the two cast members that will probably not be back for the next season (if we actually have another season).

The final scene of the season was so well written, yet not action packed in any way, which made me love it even more. It was subtle, it was smooth, and it had complex details, and it haunted me. It made me realize, and made Will realize, just how tight a spot he is in, and if it really matters everything he encountered, which makes the situation even more frustrating. It was a great way to end a brilliant first season, and it would even make for a great series finale because of the way it was handled. I will miss the series in the next couple of months, and props to everyone involved, and especially the rich performances from the cast.
