Enough with the wokeness, CBS
garfieldcamp9 October 2022
We get it...Hollywood has an agenda and you are really pushing it with this show, CBS! Just read a majority of the comments on here regarding last season. Viewers like the locale and storyline except the forced and cringe-worthy relationship. You started this episode with it and ended with it...you doubled down since last season! Just stop...you are alienating your core audience. The last few episodes from last season were less focused on this, which is why those ratings were higher. NCIS never strayed from their formula, which is why it's still around...NCIS New Orleans went full Covid and the ratings suffered. Listen to your audience, CBS!

Great season premier

How to start a great season 2 premiere with crossover. Enjoy seeing Katrina Law over in Hawaii. Great beginning and ending scenes ;) I enjoyed every second of this, full of excitement, fun, thrilling and KACY! Such inclusive show with the only steady relationship going on is Kacy, who have such great chemistry. I have been missing the show since finale; Ernie's being genius, Tennant being the boss, Kai and Lucy sibling energy, the big brother Jesse and definitely and amazing Kacy. Love this "cop" show with such witty writers and great cast. I love the way the writers react with fan base/inside jokes. Thanks for creating such great show!

the gays are WINNING y'all

Warning: Spoilers
I am.... still gathering my thoughts because I literally just finished the episode. But, I wanted to rush right over and get my fresh review down as quick as I could.

I love NCIS: Hawaii. To be fair, I am sure I might love the original as well; however, I started from the beginning awhile back, got overwhelmed with how much of an undertaking it would be, and quickly shuffled to the next thing on my watch list (the next, much shorter, thing). Not being caught up, obviously, on the original did make me bummed initially when I read that the premiere of this one was another crossover. I'm already deep in the trenches with One Chicago, the Law & Order franchise, and the FBI franchise, all of which constantly have crossovers. And then I was double bummed when I realized I would have to watch the season finale of the previous season of NCIS to at least semi-understand what was going on the in the first part of the crossover. So, two episodes of background in and I was extremely grateful to finally be at my destination.

AND WE STARTED WITH THE GAYS. AND WE ENDED WITH THE GAYS. AND THEY GAVE US THE GAYS THROUGHOUT THE WHOLE EPISODE. I know we've had their storyline for a long time; but, something about their scenes in the premiere already feel different than when they were a couple onscreen the first time around. I realize some people may dislike it for the same reason I can't sit still right now but i'm too happy to mind. They're both so beautiful and amazing and ethereal and together? Multiple it by a million.

I mean the story was super good too, don't get me wrong. Well worth the background episode and first part of the crossover (for anyone who may be second guessing watching it, though I don't know why). Ideally, you're caught up on the original (and maybe the other spin-offs too) and didn't even have the nuisance of muddling through the episodes. Huzzah to you if that is the case; unfortunately, for me, it was not. There are still some parts of the entire crossover that maybe are a tiny confusing, me having not seen the entirety of the original. But, like I said, they're pretty easy to muddle through. And, as you're muddling through, you get.... the gays.

Different take
omegablue-2542111 October 2022
I don't care one way or the other for the relationship that a lot of the negative reviews seem to be about, but what I don't like is that this episode is the second part of an episode from a different part of the series. I resent having to go and watch an entirely different storyline that I haven't been keeping up with in order to understand what's going on in this one. I am seasons behind the regular NCIS main series and I don't want to go back and watch them all just so I know what's happening in one episode of the Hawaii spin-off. And no, the recap didn't help.

Crossover episodes are fine but make them self-contained in their respective branch of the series. I don't mind seeing characters from the main series in the Hawaii spinoff and vice versa but don't have a two-part storyline that starts in one and ends in the other. Not everyone is watching both.

agree with omegablue

Since i cant respond directly to omegablue-25421 about crossover. I have not been able to real time watch TV since about 1983.... so i watched NCIS pre-show to this episode TODAY 7-9-23.... show was from last sept 2022... and i do not watch NCIS hawai'i..... so can only speculate about what hapend. I have watched NCIS from beginning. But like many other shows and political activeness and real life between real life and ANY non book entertainment trauma about 1967 and again 1985 make me choose real life and drop any non book entertainment. I watch from loyalty on a delay of 2-3 years on some shows..... and so i show support to the reviewer....
